2005_2_16_grizzly.jpgSolid colors. If you like vintage American steel furniture then Grizzly is a great resource for new stuff. While they cater to factories and industry, these simply, sturdy designs are a funky alternative for use around the house. Grizzly makes cabinets, desks, tables and carts in a number of hard finish colors, many of which roll around on wheels.

While they don't look as appetizing on Grizzly's site as they did in Martha Stewart's pretty catalog, you can make the leap. Be aware, this stuff is all welded solid and large scale. It is perfect for a loft or industrial space, but might not get up your staircase and in the door of a tenement.

2005_2_16_grizzly3.jpgApparently, Grizzly was "jerked around" by Martha and they don't have good memories of that relationship, so don't mention her name when you call (seems she charged huge fees for handling and tried to make a killing off of them).

Call or email for prices. A media cart costs @ $60 and a huge desk @ $800. Watch out for shipping! Grizzly also does a lot of custom work, so if you design it, they will build it. MGR

I have a vintage office side credenza I received from a friend. An auto body shop buffed off all the old paint down to the steel. The circular pattern that created is great. The metal was then finished off with a high gloss clear coat. Creating a cabinet everyone loves.

I'm looking to replace the original drawer lock, but haven't had luck finding the parts.

The top is laminate, and the color doesn't exactly go with the new high gloss steel finish. I'd love any ideas to change the top of the piece. If a picture would help I can post it to a flickr account.
