Last month a reader was looking for simple steel tables, this month we got the tip where to find them. From Kalamazoo comes Local 59, a small company with a desire to design good stuff and make it locally.
Their flagship piece is a 14 gauge hot-rolled carbon steel table that is powder coated and sits on heavy duty locking casters. It comes two standard sizes and any custom size you want. There is even a CPU shelf that can be added. Prices range from $1500 to $1700 with $150 shipping. (Thanks, Dean!) MGR
Dean says: The casters could make it an asset in a small apartment — use it as a desk in one area, clean it off and slide it around to make it a dining table.
