The heartland stirs! We came across Urban Workshop when we ran a piece about shelving a few weeks ago and we thought we had died and gone to heaven.

2004_8_19_pogo.jpgDesigned and manufactured by David and Julie Sheu in St. Louis, MO, Pogo looks like something we've seen before, but never this well done. Based on a simple compression standard which becomes structurally sound by pushing into your ceiling and floor, Pogo's are beautifullly constructed of maple, cherry, white oak or walnut, with steel fittings. They can be ordered in heights up to 14 feet and adjusted five inches up or down from your specified height.

We can see these as the perfect choice for New York apartments that need storage but don't want to build bookshelves, but these are not cheap, so be prepared. One run of 5 shelves up on two standards will run you over $1,000. These are not made in China. MGR
