Fiction Mirrors by Jean-Marie Massaud

The unique Fiction Mirrors are made from thin glass with a fading coating of reflective silvering. Each mirror's glass fades from reflective to transparent! Fiction Mirrors were designed by Jean-Marie Massaud and are manufactured by Glas Italia...

The two sizes are 105cm x 60cm and 180cm x 60cm. The mirrors are mounted to the wall with a metal cylinder. The design recently won an Interior Innovation Award in the Materials category at IMM Cologne 2008. Via: NotCot.org and yatzer.

Love this idea, but the only thing that trips me up is the mounting hardware that sits exactly where the middle of your face would be. Otherwise, brilliant.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the bottom picture looks like someone from the horror movie "Saw" is about to appear... I'm all for beautiful texture, but that scene just screams CREEPY to me!
