Mizzonk: Fine Furniture and Art Collection

Roger Chen and Wan-Yi Lin and started Mizzonk in 1988 in NYC and subsequently moved to Canada, where life is more peaceful. I met them last month at the Gift Fair, where I was drawn to their amazing booth (last year they won the Accent on Design Award). With "Mizzonk”, a name inspired by a monk’s devotion to contemplation and his work, they produce fine wood furniture, accessories and remarkable paper artwork...

While the range of things they make is a bit hard to synthesize (it's broad), their craftsmanship and attention to detail is not. In a world where so many things are mass produced, Mizzonk is a really nice exception. In particular, check out their delicate paper artwork, which they make by cutting and folding small pieces of paper, while never separating it from the whole. Their furniture is much more durable and is a nice mix of Eastern and Canadian influences.
