If you are looking for Shaker furniture, we've been tipped off that the best places to go are Glen Carlson for custom (he's a teacher at Hancock Village), Shaker Workshops for good affordable, and Ian Ingersoll for a wide selection and high end craftsmanship.
Located in West Cornwall, CT, Ingersoll makes all of the basic Shaker pieces from tape chairs, to trestle tables to pencil post beds.
In typical Shaker style, Ingersoll's website is stripped down and don't tell you much, and if you call you might just get his answering machine telling you that "Everyone is busy working right now."
Keep trying. We hear it's worth it. MGR

Yay! West Cornwall is just a hop, skip, and jump up the road from my childhood home! There are lots of finds nestled into the lower Berkshires...
I used to hop, skip, and jump over to West Cornwall, too.
They used to have very yummy ice cream across the street. Perfect for taking on a walk through the covered bridge!
Shaker is the new Eames.
And Litchfield county is the new Brooklyn, apparently
It's true.
Residents of Litchfield County used to fleece sheep. Now, they fleece New Yorkers. ; )
Simply beautiful furniture, clean lines, magnificent wood, finishes enhance the beauty of the wood. Beyond the furniture is Ian, his staff and craftsman. At any price a bargain in all respects.
