Now that it's over, it's time to start planning for next summer. If a simple, easy-to-construct little cottage is what you're after, take a look at the Jamaica Cottage Shop.
While we're sure no one will be building one of these in the city (but there's an idea for a room in a loft), these cottages look like fun little country escapes.

One model in there is exactly, precisely, amazingly, what I've been thinking about/looking for since the early summer. Thank you AT! I'm thinking of using it as a studio/getaway where my suburban back yard ends and the dense woods start, a very remote feeling, from which I can work and gaze at the garden to procrastinate. We'll see if it happens!

I bought a shed from them about two years ago and it was perfectly plain (their entry level) but so much nicer than HD dreck made our of composite materials. They were just great on communication, the delivery was on time and well done (it was a tight fit). Would highly recommend. Sign up for their "funcky chicken" alerts and you'll also find out about delivery specials--my shed came from Vermont to NJ for less than $100.
