New Family Home #6: Marston Dijon Backsplash

Okay, after living in our new spacious China White main room, the time had come to start injecting the color. After not much thought we settled on trying Marston's paint in Dijon after trying it out on some furniture....

Marston is a really good find for paint. The colors are made with 12 pigments and are noticeably richer and more interesting under the light. They are also non toxic and easy to work with. We painted this backsplash before cooking dinner and there was nearly no odor. Drying took place in about 15-20 minutes.

Marston paint is expensive, BUT because the paint is so rich and well made we have been getting away with $5 test pots for use all over our house. It goes on thick and you get much better coverage. For decorative painting and small projects we think it's a great resource.

Now, it's only a matter of time before we work on injecting color somewhere else!

We recently painted our kitchen an almost identical colour, and I love it... so crisp and clean and sunny.

I loved the yellow in your old kitchen, but this one looks really nice with your white cabinets and appliances.

Love the yellow, your kitchen reminds me of my kitchen with the yellow walls, white cabinets, butcher block table and knife rack. Here is a link to my kitchen, I fixed it up during last springs cure. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lffrank/424648599/

I do love yellow in a kitchen, I agree it evokes sunshine, and spring, and all good things!

I have a floor-to-ceiling niche in my all-white kitchen that I painted the same color. It's a great choice.

You've added lots of character to a formerly boring all-white kitchen. Love the wood carried throughout.
