apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

45% of the vote already in...

Robert 397
Patrick 349
Paul 174
Brandon 97
Hilary 63

Total Votes 1080

With 45% of the vote already in, it looks like two of the boys are pulling far ahead into the lead, but are potentially neck and neck. The other boys and girl are far behind, but considering forming a co-op and pooling their votes.

WHAT happened to grrl power? Could Handcuffs trump Cosmo-Urban? Does Paul have any more pivot in his voting block? Do loft beds lose out to those on the floor? Do we have to bring in Marlon to solve this problem? MGR

All I'm going to say is I have yet to vote...and I have yet to be bribed (wink wink hint hint)

How can you claim that 45% of the votes are in? How do you know how many people are going to vote? Is there a cap on the number of people you will allow to vote?

It seems a pity to me that the 3rd place prize is a free year for your stuff to vacation in a storage facility. Isn't the whole premise of small and cool that you've solved your storage problems and/or curbed your acquisition habit? I hope Hillary doesn't get third place because she'll be sitting in an empty apartment. But that may be the culmination of her zen opus anyway...

Yeah, and I have access to 5 computers, which means I can vote 5 times!

Yes, loft beds lose my vote ;) sorry Hilary and Brandon! (I guess I'm just getting too old to find climbing out of one of those in the middle of the night a good design choice.)

OK -- this is just me talkin', but although I'm really generally kind of queasy about competition, I'm finding this one of my favorite things out there in the world right now.

I don't think I could possibly care less who wins on American Idol, nor have I even watched it except during moments when I have too much wet paint or something on my hands to change the channel or something. But THIS contest is very interesting. And almost obscenely, yet serenely pretty.

Perhaps middle age has settled into my brain to stay -- forever!

Meanwhile, I think this is a great way for people to get people to look at this site -- people telling their friends to vote for their own favorite. Sure, but once they see all the entrants, they may have ideas of their OWN who should win!

What's with all the questions above? Does Maxwell watch old Batman episodes? Or was that Rocky and Bullwinkle that used to have all the questions at the end?

I was laughing about the free storage, too, especially since the storage locker may actually be bigger than the apartent!

An empty apartment with a banana leaf on the floor. Now, THAT would be a cool apartment...;-)

No matter what, all those who don't come in first, always remember we loved all five finalists and for many, it was a grueling decision on who to vote for. And we so admire that you put your places on public display. I'm sure some of the most critical here live in dumps. Plus, there's great second and third prizes too. The second prize is permanent (linens), whereas the first is fleeting (hotel). You can probably sublet third prize (storage). I think there should be a fourth and fifth prize - even t-shirts.

And of course, it ain't over till it's over. Early returns may not represent the final outcome.

i think mgr meant that 45% of the time we have available to cast a vote has passed.

cap on the number of people voting?? that would cap site traffic... what a silly idea.

couple o' thoughts... add me to the list of those who can't do the loft bed. While I definitely respect that with 200 square feet you gotta do what you gotta do, I think part of the challenge of the contest is indeed where, on the floor, does one put the bed?

And sadly (unless you're robert) early returns are almost always accurate - even those networks that predicted Florida for Gore (seems so long ago) it ends up were probably correct. When I voted yesterday, robert was up by about fifteen percent over patrick. Seems about the same now.

but now Patrick's within 10 percent, so what do I know?

i hope the winners get some jobs out of it!

i love unorthodox ways into work, especially the tough to break into, i'm imagining, interior design world (as a wannabe decorator who hasn't earned an i.decor degree yet). and sorry to all for talking out of my arse at times.

hopefully people are sticking to the one vote per person honor system.
