Taking it offline. We don't get out enough. It is time to change that. We hope you'll join us....
We were telling our friend Charles that we wanted to have a holiday party but make it different. Maybe go somewhere interesting other than a bar, and bring some friends.
"Klotz|Sirmon Holiday Sale," he said without hesitation.
"An art gallery holiday sale?!?"
Alan Klotz and Janet Sirmon collect 19th and 20th century vintage photography and emerging contemporary work, and each year they have a holiday sale. Among other things, they have access to the entire New York Times and LIFE Magazine photo archives.
We dropped by yesterday and could barely tear ourselves away. "Could we bring some friends back?" we asked. "Absolutely," they said.
Frankly, we thought it would be nice to meet you in person. In fact, we thought it would be nice to do something like this every month. There's alot to see in New York, alot of apartments to gossip about, and alot of good people to meet.
Alan, a lecturer and collector for 25 years, has agreed to kick off this thing -- he'll speak with us, show us the collection, answer our questions, and inspire us with his passion for photography. We will also be able to buy photographs right off the wall at up to 70% off. Prices are $5 to $5,000, with most pieces in the $200-$800 range.

I'm there!
we look forward to it!
Curses! I'll be out of town that day. What a great idea. I also think monthly, occasional or anytime outtings would be a lot of fun.
This idea is golden, I have no doubt it will fly and I'll be able to make the next one. Can I just toast you now...Cheers!
