apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

AT Party Pics

12-16-party.jpg
Our lovely locale, Built, was a packed house last night! The party, by all objective accounts was a smashing success. As strange as it may seem for a virtual community to hang out in a real-life spot in Manhattan, people easily adapted and thrived. Even without nametags, our devoted readers discovered one another and shared their own therapeutic home achievements.

The drinks flowed, the conversation was non-stop, and the atmosphere was lively. We announced plans for the coming year including the smallest/coolest contest, a best garden contest, a growing Kitchen site, and the online AT store; and we thanked our readers, writers, critics, and muses.

Meter Galleries "Chair &" series gracefully lined our walls and one reader even brought in their own chair photo to place on the opposite wall..

AT sold some of its ultra fancy environmentally friendly, highly designed t-shirts.

In the end, people had to be literally swept out into the street. They didn't want to leave. It felt like a family, in a good way.

So jealous of all those who were in NYC and able to make it to the party!

I live overseas and started visiting AT a few weeks ago after watching Maxwell on a "Mission Organization" program we get on cable here. (loved the way he transformed the young woman's room). Liked that episode so much I taped it and eventually discovered AT. Found the online group to be a very friendly, creative, and funny bunch. Wish I could've joined you all Thurs. night!

I'm so glad I went last night. I met some wonderful people but still wish there had been name tags. I'm sure I was standing next to someone I would have recognized online. It got a bit crowded there for a while but what fun! THANKS MAXWELL!! Let's do it again.

I was absolutely there in spirit, but in body was at a jazz at lincoln center concert (wynton is amazing), so could not attend. what a wonderful, diverse, mix of people, that would be my comment on the slideshow. LOVE the diversity, makes things real/wonderful/interesting/fun!

Patrick(too), that's what you get for being fashionably late. Sorry, I missed you in the crowd. Not sure as I left mid-way I think. I was getting a little claustrophobic. But still a fun time. It was nice to meet some new people from online and visit with those I've met before. I second the need for some kind of nametag on our next large gathering.

Thanks again Maxwell and all.

Great Party!

PatrickTOO -- my partner (who couldn't come) was very concerned that I wanted to meet you. But thanks to the wonders of technology, now I can show him that your interest was peaked by #9 and #21. For the record, I am VERY happily married, and I will bring the boy to the next AT party.

But seriously, a real nice time -- look forward to meeting more of our community next time!

Frank--
You're not entirely off the hook...
#9 and #21 are just the ones whose names I did NOT get. ;)

P2! - You mean you know who everyone is in all those pictures?! Then you'll have to tell the rest of us. And I find the picture #s to be confusing. There is a # at the bottom of each photo but it doesn't correspond to the # at the top of the page. Um...

posted by anne on 2005-12-16 15:56:22

I'm guessing it's the # of #, and not what's at the bottom, but that's just my logic.

Hey, Lori2--
Also enjoyed meeting your equally lovely artist friend, whose name escapes me. Apologies!

Looks like you all had a great time.
What a great turn out.

You guys got swiggle cookies...we didn't have those at the LA AT party...totally jealous!

Photos are great. Everyone looks so happy! I spent the night filling a jewelry order and then sliding down the driveway on that lovely ice. When's the next party? What can we celebrate. I want to be there. I love the necklace on whoever that is with dark hair next to Maxwell in the 1st photo. (I think its the first)

I would also like to see names attached to the photos. It makes this even more enjoyable.

P2-

Her name is Ascha (see The Gallery, October 11th for her art work).

It was great meeting you...and finally putting a face with your name & comments!

I hope next time to meet even more people if we are all wearing name tags.

Had such fun on Thursday. I second the vote for nametags and am v. impressed that Patrick (too) knew so many people!

Looks like a missed a wonderful party, but I was not feeling well, tried to rest up so I could go, but didn't want to subject anyone to my fever and (probably) contagious germs! But there WILL be other parties, right?!

Lori2--
Yes, Ascha! (I was remembering it as Aisha but knew that wasn't quite right!)

Just went back and reviewed Ascha's work as featured on "The Gallery" here, and it is great stuff. An honor to meet such a talent (and one of the only people I've ever met who can make pigtails look downright gorgeous and elegant!) :)

I love room and board. they have the best sofas and customer service. My sales person, jason, is the best. He knows everything about sofas. I would have bought a B&B Italia sofa but he convinced me that the R&B is better than B&B. Their sofas are built and designed better.

My new motto is R&B is better than B&B.

By the way, look for Jason when shopping at R&B.
