Wanna blog? Our deadline is this Friday, December 1st. Thanks for all the submissions so far and if you haven't received a confirmation, please resend. What's this all about? In January we're launching two new sites and adding to our old. Please email us if you are interested (see below):
The Nursery - Wherein we blog the best of kid's design and decor and seek inspiration and resources for this sweet new room (which is often NOT even a room). This is the place for us to vent all our frustration and discoveries as we integrate chidren into the home.
The Media Room - Wherein we look squarely in the eye of the beast of home technology, seeking solutions and inspiration for televisions, computers, phones, stereos and wires in general so that the home is still beautiful and healthy...
Call it "home tech" but our home now has a great deal of technology that poses a real challenge. We'd like to see it stylishly and minimally done.
AT Los Angeles - We're also looking for one more person to add to the AT Los Angeles team; someone who can blog, edit and act as a rep for the whole team. This is all about being a team leader for our four other writers out there. Is this you?
A senior editor with experience in design and decor
To write 3 posts a day
Available online & IM during the day (gotta have an online life)
Preferable locations: Hollywood, Midtown, Central
AT Programming - This is a long-shot, but we're also looking for an additional programmer to help us with weekly fixes and ad placement. If you're a programmer and know blogging and MT, drop us a line.
If you are interested in one of these positions, please send the following in an email. Please remember that we pay for all work done for AT but that these are NOT full time jobs.
- Deadline: Friday, December 1 (THIS IS AN UPDATED deadline, to avoid the Thanksgiving blackout)
- name and address
- how you found AT
- what you do in the offline world
- 2 amazing short sample posts with picture that you think would be great on the blog

Definitely AT DC!!!!
Looking forward to the media room.
me too!
looking forward to the nursery site.
How about a craft blog? How to make things around the house...
Whatever happened to AT:Boston? I've been patiently awaiting its debut. I thought it was supposed to be unveiled in September.
can't wait to see the nursery!
home tech -- can't wait! although i'm a tech geek, i'm paralyzed by indecision and tend to drag my feet about buying because i'm always sure the next thing is just around the corner and if i just wait a few more weeks i can get the new improved much more fabulous version...
And AT DC?
I have to second the AT DC motion, please!!!
Thanks, LilyBeth!
I thought I saw a suggestion on "eco-style". Something along the lines of environmentally-sound articles/decor/design/advice/items et cetera. Could that be incorporated into a weekly article instead of devoting a whole site to that? I would actually like to learn more about earth/inhabitant-friendly, safe, organic, and healthy alternatives on this site. I think alot of people would. Just a suggestion. I guess one could call me a bit of a "greenie".
AT:Seattle (or maybe AT:Northwest)?
I miss ebay scavenger on the NY site. Is that going to start up again?
I'm so glad you are going to be adding the nursery. Although my own two children have graduated from the nursery, at eight and ten their needs and presence in our home is a force to be reckoned with. As I am reading your book, the thing that strikes me is how children are not really accounted for. You talk about them, but don't actually deal with them. (I'm not quite finished, so maybe I've missed something) This makes sense, since your own first baby is so new, but for those of us who have been living with kids for a while already know, the control that adult homedwellers have on the interior environment is considerably diminished. This is not a bad thing, but it does require a slightly different perspective.
I'm looking forward to the new addition. Thanks.
abby, the new hot thing is ALWAYS around the corner! At some point if you really want it you have to commit, or else you'll be waiting forever instead of enjoying.
That said, I put off upgrading my projector for another year in the hopes of snagging an affordable 1080p model once they come down in price. I'm also waiting on a digital music distribution system with an eye towards Apple's iTV in Q107.
How about expanding "The Nursery" blog to "Children's Rooms"?
That way you include rooms for kids of all ages and would be more relevant to a wider group of ATers.
Ursula will grow out of the nursery years in the blink of an eye, so a "Children's Rooms" or "Kiddies' Room" site would grow along with her.
AT:Denver/Boulder - I would be glad to be a blogger for it!
