August is Lazy Summer Hideaway Month!

2005_8_8_summer-in-the-park.jpgWere checking out our email box today and see what pics readers have sent in for the Ultimate Summer Hideaway Contest.

Meanwhile, we're turning our attention to all our friends who stayed in the city this weekend and raged until early in the morning (it seems to have been a very FESTIVE weekend).

While those who get away send in tips, those who stay, give us your tips...

NYC = beaches inside city limits.

For me that means Saturday in the sea without losing my beach bliss getting stuck in hours of traffic. The water was perfect this weekend. Note: Riis Park in Queens is cleaner and more low key than the Brooklyn beaches, and there is an adorable queer scene there . . .

The Great Lawn in Central Park. It's got everything... beautiful green grass, sunbathers, summer sounds of softball games, and (back by popular demand)... a lovely pair of red-tailed hawks.

has anyone tried the water taxi beach in LIC yet?

It's been on NY1 news, curbed, gothamist
Not sure it's a place I'd want to go to on a hot day (no access to water and even if there was I'm not sure the East River is clean enough to venture in) but its got sand, food and drinks and great views of Manhattan.

Hudson River Park in BPC. A great way to leave the city behind you (literally). A stone's throw from a subway, and the city nightlife, after you take in the beautiful sunset over the now great looking jersey skyline.

Not mention all the free concerts and dance performances down here all summer long. It's the only place I would want to spend my summer.
