The time has come for us to get help with our addiction. It's actually long overdue, but we are really wanting it right now. So we're putting out the word for an assistant AT:NY blogger who can help us keep this ship at full tilt (when we have to be changing diapers in a few months).
In the next two weeks we're looking to find a smart, nosy blogger who knows the nuts and bolts of blogging (HTML), really knows NYC and wants to help people make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy. Interested? Read on.....
We are looking for: A smart, nosy, writer with a great design eye and knowledge of where to find things in this city. It is a half-time job, and we prefer if you have a life outside of blogging which involves you with design in some way. We like enthusiasts.
What you get: Money - not much - but unlike many blogs, we DO pay. What really makes it worthwhile is if you are a writer and/or designer who wants to get in front of a big daily audience. You get this job and people will know who you are (which can be both good and bad, depending).
Deadline: Monday, July 24th
You need:
- a good eye
- at least four hours a day
- a good computer
- a totally reliable high speed connection
- a digital camera
- photoshop
- a good knowledge of how to use all these things
AT's Mission: constantly helping people to have beautiful, organized, healthy homes, through blogging resources (like Zagat's), reviewing products (like CNET.com), tracking the news (like CNN) and providing inspiration (through sharing house tours and design ideas).
Please submit: to editor@apartmenttherapy.com with "NY SUBMISSIONS" in big letters in the subject header:
- Your name
- Where you live
- How did you find AT?
- What you would be doing the rest of the time
- 3 sample posts with good pics (a. one local shop b. one product c. your choice (dazzle us) - keep them 100-200 words max)
We will confirm your email within 24 hours and we will make our decisions asap.
Oooh, fresh meat! ;)
darn - I wish you could pick me. But, I live in West Newton, MA. CRUMB!
It sounds like a very fun thing. I wish I had like a trust fund or something so I could afford to quit my full-time job and do that.
Actually Curtis, this is not a trust fund job by any means. this is a great job for a freelance writer or designer who wants a steady gig while they pursue their other work. Or for a mother who would wants to work from home.
And when are YOU going to write a column? We keep talking about it, but i am still waiting to hear from you.... ;-)
Yes, we want Curtis!
Cur-TIS! Cur-TIS! Cur-TIS!
Pleeeeeeeeeease give us Curtis!
Whhhhooooooooooeeeee CURTIS! Cur-TIS! We scream for Cur-TIS!
Oh, yes. I vote for a regular column by Curtis!
You guys are entirely too sweet. Meanwhile..
uh... I'd love to. Hmmmm.... Methinx we had a miscommunication that I didn't really follow up to sort out or something.
Anyway... for the actual main gig in question, it ends up being any one of a dozen of my fellow posters.
:) Curtis.
maxwell-
you meant "or for a _parent_ who wants to work from home", non?
Dammit,
This should be my job. I'm currently out of town, and without the things that you requested. Damn, Damn, Damn.
I'd love to do that. I'm always finding interesting stuff, some inexpensive, some ridiculously overpriced. I'm sure there are lots of interesting shops in the City, but they also exist in the older suburbs, the country, and other cities. Interior design is one of the last refuges of shopping where corporate banality has not taken over.
I have a design firm in the city and this is what I do on occassion. I mostly work on consulting projects out of state, but this sounds like fun. I am an architect by training and sometimes design these fun spots that you are describing. I work wierd hours, so this would be easy for me to do.
Kiki
Actually Susan, I caught myself later that day thinking those exact thoughts.
I did mean "or for a _parent_ who wants to work from home"....
;-)
Damn, and I knew I forgot to move to NYC!
Anyhow...Maxwell, if you ever need more help in San Francisco, I would love to be your girl! And thanks again for having me as a guest on the SF House Tour this week. I was really honored and enthused by the positive responses. What a blast!
Cheers from the city by the bay,
Victoria

ziggy,ziggy,ziggity.
monolithic... AT is full of stars
I'd love to see an article/slideshow about Curtis' redo of his bedroom set from flikr. I LOVE how he converted old, dated-looking oak furniture to totally mod espresso with those cool steel door pulls. It's really great.
This is so something that I've always wanted to do. I work in the finance industry and is bored out of my mind, this is the perfect thing to spice things up.
It's a shame I'm not from NYC.
We soooo need an AT site for Washington, D.C.
Here's another vote for Curtis!
:)
hello. Have you filled this job yet?
