Computers are NOT simple. Note to self: when you need to reboot your modem and router, be sure not to switch the power plugs.
Since 9am this morning, at the very moment when we tried to reboot and unwittingly plugged the modem power (12v) into the router (5v) and fried the router, we have been working furiously to get our office back online. A mad dash of a shopping trip, a new router and numerous calls to D-Link and Verizon later, we are back up... just in time for lunch. And all we can smell around here is fried router.... MGR
Just for the record, both D-Link AND Verizon tech support were very good today.

Wasn't it Shakespeare who said, "Live by the computer, die by the computer"? Is guess we are all doomed. But I'm glad you are up and running again. I won't want to go without my daily fix of therapy!
Pardon my typos above. One should not type and converse on the phone at the same time.
Sorry to hear about your "frying" of electronic parts. I don't use D-Link however a GOOD electronic component should have resistors and PROTECTION against excessive energy coming into its unit to prevent damage as such. Nowadays everyone has a plug and they all look the same.
In my company we build in protection and our power supplies are made to burn out if something is wrong to prevent damage to the expensive parts... More reasons not to use D-Link.
Apple!
Fried router, with a side order of hush puppies. DE-LISH!
