apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

DONE!
"A nice [Saturday] cyber-clearout/spruce-up party!"

2005-declutter-15.jpg

We had been cleaning up the office all morning, when we got this email from Pixie:

Since you are clearing out your office and some of us are cleaning/decluttering/sprucing up, how about opening up an new open posting so we can post on progress all weekend? It would be very inspiring to hear what you all are up to this weekend. We could have a nice cyber-clearout/spruce-up party.

Yes! What a good idea. Choose one of the threads below or this one (depending on what your doing) and join the party.

For the record, all that crap you see above is NEWLY SORTED clutter that is going out the door on MONDAY (and down below are shelves that are not totally straight yet, but totally decluttered and cleaned out. Brown bags are Outboxes to go out as well. Desk is next.).

DONE! It took until 5pm and in the pics, it still looks dodgy in the background, but i have been through all of my possessions in my office, thrown out a ton, separated out another huge pile for a sidewalk sale next Sunday, and my desk is clear.

Now I am going to clean off my computer desktop of old files and junk and head home. How are you doing, Dorianne?

Hah! Cool! Now I don't feel so pathetic decluttering my apartment on my free Saturday!

I got my hall closet decluttered this morning, as I posted in the Decluttering thread. I decided to take a break from painting walls this weekend, so I'm going to repot some plants right now, and tomorrow, I'll be tackling the bedroom. *shudders* I also have some wall art to re-hang after painting a living room wall.

Good luck with your clearing out and moving, AT! And everyone else who is taking on projects this weekend....

Yay!
Since the postings on washing kitchen floors the other day, I had been thinking the time has finally come and...today, I washed the kitchen floor for the first time in 14 months, since I moved in. It doesn't really look that different, maybe a few shades lighter on the varied-stone colored large tiles. And the grout in between the tiles is darker. The tile continues out of the kitchen into the hall and desk area, so I can compare the newly washed area to those areas too, and, ok, now I see that the kitchen tile looks so much brighter. I guess I should wash those areas too. All in good time.

Since I was out of town for a number of weeks recently, the fridge has been pretty empty, so I've gradually been washing shelves and bins and I did all the freezer bins today. Also for the first time since I moved in.

I can't believe what this site is doing to me.

Go Pixie!
I too found myself wiping off a relatively empty fridge shelf . . . weird isn't it. Thanks AT!

Yay for folks getting stuff done!

Yay for maxwell sorting through ALL that stuff!! Wow! WOW! My closet seems very small by comparison!

Yay for pixie, too!

Going to go post links to pics in the Decluttering thread. Then I'm ending for the day - I'm going out to celebrate! (Hopefully I won't fall asleep over my dinner.)
