This just in. DWR's annual 10% sale is jumping the gun and starting tonight. "10% on every regularly priced design in our assortment (excluding Herman Miller® and Kartell products)."
And what's with 10% anyway? When most stores have sales they offer at least "20% off" or something like "10% to 50% off," 10% is a little like the girl who kisses you on the cheek after you have walked her all the way home. They lead us to water but they won't let us drink (but they do serve vodka).
The sale is at all stores as well as online and ends Tuesday, March 15, at 7am PST. MGR

You know, Max, maybe she's just not that into you. (Sorry, I just couldn't let that metaphor slide)
When you consider that tax in this town is 8.25% it's a little ridiculous that DWR practically brings out a marching band to announce their once-every-couple-months 10% off sale. Big whup. This + the night of a million posers last week has put DWR in my 'dead to me' bin.
"Excluding Herman Miller"? They sell stuff other than Eames? ;)
Just teasing... I am a DWR fan. But agree with rr that 10% only slightly softens the blow in this here Crazy Tax Town.
Yes, but think about it... with Design Out of Reach's prices, that 10% you save can buy you a whole 'nother piece of furniture somewhere else!
DWR- overt, smug, without soul. About as subtle as Las Vegas. I've tried to rearrange my thinking, though--to view them as a display of what's-trendy-now (or, what-is-timeless-that-we-can-capitalize-on) rather than a catalogue where I may hope to actually purchase something. If you want to pay full price for the Eames lounge chair and ottoman, support the small local guy instead.
derek--
i think we (those of us in NYC and similar metro markets) have the luxury of "home-Grown Eames" around almost every corner as an alternative to DWR. The entire nation, perhaps not so much. I think that was at the root of the DWR original mission. Perhaps DWR is overexposed, but it has taken away the argument that the also-ubiquitous Pottery Barn was the only over-exposed game in town. I'm just excited there are a growing number of mass-market channels for a variety of improved designs... it's the only way our national "eye" will continue to be fine-tuned to what good design is all about. Okay, I'll get off my bent-ply soapbox now! ;)
You can use the promotional code F7952 for $200 off of any purchase greater than a $1000. That's a better deal if you are buying less than $2K worth of stuff from them. It doesn't seem to work during the current sale, but it's supposed to be good through the 21st of March.
