EZ eBay Shops

2004_8_4_ebay.jpg2004_8_4_ebay2.jpgLet's put the middle man back in. For all of those non tech savvy folks who still want to get in on the eBay wagon, there is a small piece over at this month's REAL SIMPLE on three new companies that will help you sell your belongings (for a price). The three leading contenders: Auction Drop, I-Soldit, and Quikdrop are all opening stores at breakneck paces where you can drop off your item and let them sell it. They will do all the work and then send you a cut of the proceeds. the cut is sizeable, but worth it if you just need to get the deal done. Fees are slightly different at each company, but Auction Drop's is representative:

38% of the first $200
30% of the next $300 ($200.01-$500)
20% of the remaining amount (over $500)
($19.99 minimum commission)

We fully support people getting rid of their extra stuff and hope this trend continues. If you have had any experience with any of these services, please do tell... (via REAL SIMPLE) MGR

What is unfortunate about these services is that they are mostly on the West Coast, and for Auction Drop, the 25lb weight limit. I have been trying to sell my pristine, solid wood desk and shelves set and I thought they could help (b/c it has just been a never-ending, exhausting process). I guess they can't sell furniture at all.
