apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

February is Bedroom Month!

2-26-dented.jpg

Thank you for all your comments last week (here, here, and here). It's a hell of a job not only to post, but to keep up with all comments and comment as well, but we'll do our best. Meanwhile, we're in the bedroom until Friday. Continue to send us your bedroom tips and pictures and we'll continue to post them! All info is here.

After delightedly discovering that ladies are favoring not just "t-shirt and undies" in bed at night, but also "just undies" and "just t-shirts", we have a new question: What is your favorite bedroom color? Sure, red is sexy, but cool colors are soothing, and neutrals are chic.(great pic from Iriegal).

That woman needs a phone on her side of the bed, with her chiropractor on speed dial.

Who do you think the giy is... that IS her chiropractor.

That picture would be MUCH funnier if it were the GUY on that side of the bed...

Light purple/with a hint of grey. I had walls that matched perfectly with my CK Bamboo Flower duvet cover and sheets. It was my favorite bedroom.

Maxwell,

I raise this question with regret, but the first "here" we've been pointed to in the text at the top of this page (the original Oprah thread) has several posts missing, without comment or explanation. Why were some posts removed?

Whaaat! Dis is how you make sexy time in this country! Datsa nice. High five!! How much for the woman?

I like an ever so pale lavendar. It's calming, not really feminine (female or not, I like a more masculine room), and easy to coordinate with. Or.....a deep, deep, chocolate brown.

Patrick -

Exactly.

Bedroom is done in black/red, with the 'neutral' being the natural wood tones.

Wonderful, elegant, sexy only as a side benefit. And I do find keeping all our books (lots!) in there is actually relaxing for me.

That first picture is just tacky and too much information.

Also, remind me again why we're talking about what people sleep in on Apartment Therapy? Isn't this "Bedroom month" not "what you wear in the bedroom" month?

P(too)--Hah!

It still amazes that people just can't have fun and feel the need to criticize absolutely every teeny little thing. It's bedroom month. If any one room in the house should be relaxing and fun it's the bedroom. So relax, and have some fun.

My picks:
Colors : Dark, rich, and warm.
Attire : Occasion and attendee dependent.

I agree with Joey- People really need to calm down. No one is forcing you to be here! But on a more positive note I love using leopard print as an accent!

Neutrals and a bit of red. Actually the color we're using right now is kind of a rusty red. The linens are cream and solid.

We're not really fans of cool colors - they make us feel too "shivery".

Well my apartment is my bedroom (tiny studio) but I have a dark blue/green on the wall behind the bed and the rest of the place is a neutral. I love it.

I love my ocean blue bedroom and I have to say, I got the best PJs ever at Patagonia - they are fleece yoga pants and they are SO soft and warm!

Bordeaux red/purple

Big vote for leafy green here. I'm a warm color person generally, but green is relaxing and serene without being as cold as blues and purples.

Yellow is a close second favorite, but if I put yellow on the walls they "glow" and sunlight doesn't need to be amplified in the early am.

joey & kate -- totally agree.

bedroom colors: grey, white, silver, black -- with a few hints of pink.

posted by abby on 2007-02-26 17:25:10

I'm struggling with that at the moment. I LOVE vibrant colors, but need to chill myself out for sleep. So I lean towards medium/dark grays. But we have an archway that I'm struggling with color choices for, and I may break down and hit it with some hot orange or deep blue. Not sure yet.

We're waiting for spring before anymore painting (re-painting).

Design Dabbler:

I think you assume Maxwell personally monitors every new post on every new thread, which, alas, I do not think he does... he actually has another job.

So I'd suggest if you are interested in some other thread, you email him directly, cuz asking him here will probably go unanswered, which I'm guessing you'd take offense with. Unless that was yet another attempt to hijack a thread to beat your dead horse again.

posted by patrick (the other one) on 2007-02-26 22:02:02

sorry, in all fairness to DD, Maxwell did indeed open that can of worms by (inexplicably) linking back to threads many would soon forget...

Never mind beating the dead horse, shoot the thing and put it out of its misery.

posted by Jackie (the original one) on 2007-02-26 22:59:27

My bedroom is mainly white, but above the bed, I have a large painting of a bird silhoutted against the sunset. I pull my accent palette from that so it's heavy on the deep oranges and purples.

Abby--your pictures and colours are really nice--I'm jealous of your hot fuschia Louis chairs.

I have two duvet covers that are the main sources of colour in my room. One is a black pinstripe (yeah, I know, not a colour!) and the other is cherry pink. Lately I've really been leaning towards something in a pinkier shade of coral, or a tiny bit more of the bright pink with some chocolate brown thrown in.

Also, does anyone know where that second photo comes from? It looks familiar.
