The greatest of congratulations to all of you.
Well, that made me teary.
Awwww, yay! Congratulations and best wishes to the family!
A very long SIGH....
CONGRATS!
Yahoo! Welcome to the world, baby girl!
CONGRATS!!! Tis the season for babies. 2 good friends of mine also just gave birth.
"a baby girl with guaranteed impeccable taste and tremendous organizational skills"
unfortunately, this girl is destined for a cluttered, country styled home!
Holy schmoley! 50 hours...poor SK!
Congrats to both of you!
I'm teary, too, Joan A. Tears of joy and delight and warmth! All the best to you, and your sweetie-one. And I *knew* she'd be a girl, I just knew it!! Hope the three of you can get some rest now. Warmth and joy to you!
and baby makes three..... in my (fill in the perfect color) heaven. we are all so pleased for you.
50 hours?!?!? I worship at Sarah-Kate's alter. Much congratulations; this will prove to be the happiest day of your lives (until number 2 arrives).
I am very into music (and very sappy) and when my own precious daughter was born one song really hit home with me, I am including the words as I;m sure it will ressonate with you as well:
"SHOW ME" by The Pretenders (it's about the birth of Chrissy hynde's own first daughter)
Show me the meaning of the word
Show me the meaning of the word
'Cause I've heard so much about it
They say, "Hey, you can't live without it"
Welcome to the human race
With its wars, disease and brutality
You with your innocence and grace
Restore some pride and dignity
To a world in decline
Welcome to a special place
In a heart of stone that's cold and gray
You with your angel face
Keep the despair at bay
Send it away, and
Show me the meaning of the word
Show me the meaning of the word
'Cause I've heard so much about it
I don't want to live without it
I don't want to live without it
Oh, I want love
I want love
I want love
Welcome here from outer space
The Milky Way is still in your eyes
You found yourself a hopeless case
One that's seeking perfection on earth
That's some kind of rebirth, so
Show me the meaning of the word
Show me the meaning of the word
'Cause I've heard so much about it
Don't make me live without it
Oh, love
I want love
I want
Love
I want love
should we take above pics literally and cheer three times? :-)
wow! 50 hours! congratulations!
welcome to the world, little one!
Que milagre! Blessings and much joy and huge congratulations upon all three of you! [And what a marvelous illustration of the news -- thank you, Jill!]
Sara Kate, 50 hours is a record-breaking feat of endurance and strength; brava. And no, you won't hurt forever...just for the next while. Sleep as much as you can, as often as you can. All the baby books recommend that you sleep when the baby sleeps, which I thought was dumb advice -- but boy, they were right. The secret is to be as gentle with yourself as you are with Baby Girl. [and like you need more advice, esp. from a stranger? I'll shut up now!]
Congratulations!
(And profound sympathy to SK for enduring the 50 hours it took.)
You'll be such fun parents!
Let's break out the champagne!
Hardiest of congratulations to all!!! :)
Congratulations...I think that the 3 cheers are definitely in order!
Congratulations! We are so happy for you.
Congrats!!!!

Health and happiness to the new family! I wouldn't be so sure about organizational skills or anything else Kids and pets have a way of asserting their own individuality. We can be sure she will be wonderful. Hope to find you on a playground some fine furture day when Mimi Kate comes to town.
CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS!
Happy new girl! Wow, 50 hours, damn!
May you all be happy healthy and wise.
Good luck!
Congratulations! I am so relieved that all is well! Thanks for letting us know Jill!
MAZEL TOV!
And welcome to the world, Ms. Gillingham-Ryan, :)
Many congratulations and every best wish to you all!
In certain cultures in the northern part of india - it is symbolic to touch the feet of the person in adoration.
SK , I touch your feet in adoration.
warm wishes and happy congrats!
... and while I'm getting choked up over your happy news, this Stevie Wonder song is running through my head:
Isn't she lovely - isn't she wonderful
Isn't she precious - less than one minute old
I never thought through love we'd be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn't she lovely, made from love
Isn't she pretty - truly the angels' best
Boy, I'm so happy - We have been heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
through us he's given life to one
But isn't she lovely, made from love
Congratulations!!!!! That's wonderful news!
Congratulations - we send you our very warmest wishes and hearty congratulations from London.

Oh my, this brought wonderful tears to my eyes. I thought of my mother. SK: I think we all, in our own ways, touch your feet in adoration.
Many blessings to all three of you.
And what an exqusite post from "from Bombay".
This is the best way possible to cap off Kid Design Month. Heartiest congratulations!
Bravo! How exciting...have we not yet settled on a name or will she be naming herself i the next few weeks?
Congrats!!
Usually for my friends, I put together a list of historical birthdays, events and holidays - and, Maxwell's blog is a big enough part of my life right now, that I thought it would be nice to share my little tradition. Of course, my selection of events is in no way comprehensive (for births I like to avoid death and destruction) or logical - but rather a bit eclectic.
Holidays: TeacherÂ’s Day in Taiwan.
Random Holiday: Ask a Stupid Question Day
Historical Events on this day:
1066 William the Conqueror invades England: the Norman Conquest begins.
1542 Navigator Juan RodrÃguez Cabrillo of Portugal arrives as what is now San Diego, California, United States.
1867 Toronto becomes the capital of Ontario.
1871 Brazil passes law freeing future children of slavery.
1924 Two United States Army planes landed in Seattle, Washington, having completed the first round-the-world flight in 175 days.
Birthdays:
551 BC Confucius, Chinese philosopher (d. 479 BC)
1571 Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Italian artist (d. 1610)
1901 Ed Sullivan, American television show host (d. 1974)
1915 Ethel Rosenberg, American Communist (d. 1953)
1934 Brigitte Bardot, French actress
Joy to the three of you.
Congratulations!!!!
In an increasingly insane world thank goodness for babies -- they lift our hopes and make us smile.
Warmest congratulations to you all. I hope the years to come are full of great happiness and health for you all (we know they'll be full of good design!)

50 hours?! Goodness!
Congratulations Sarah Kate and Maxwell!
"...Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable."

Welcome to the planet, Baby Girl G-R!
Heartiest congratulations to the whole family!
Congratulations!
Even I won't be sassy at this moment.
How lovely for the new little one to go home and discover her new home!
Good luck, and good work, SK!
Shilpa
Felicitations from Montreal!
I remember my first girl's 25 hour labour like it was yesterday! Congrats for the bambino, and 'tho your long long long labour & delivery must have been quite baroque you might find (eventually) that it's a cool thing. My 2nd daughter's labour was 2 hrs, but I remember my first's the most fondly, with almost bittersweet nostalgia. (Ok, it's been 10 yrs!!!)
Rest, rest, rest SK. Until at least Christmas! Or your body will seriously rebel...Plus it takes the mind a while to wrap itself around the idea of a baby. Parents are superheroes, in the end.
Congratulations Sara Kate & Maxwell:):):)
Cheers to your new bundle of joy!!!
Contrats- !!!
SO EXCITING! Congratulations on your newly expanded family!

And for those of you that didn't know labor lasted that long, thank your mothers. Mine said she was in labor with me for 4 days! Luckily my first was only 10 hours.
What a tiny little post this is! I have combing the site looking for this, and I see this was posted hours ago, and I couldn't even find it!
Anyway... congratulations!
But seriously... 50 hours? I think that somebody has some SERIOUS jewelry coming to her.
add another congratulations to the list!
Congratulations!!
Heartiest congratulations to the two of you!
Congratulations!
Sleep while you can, don't be afraid to ask for help and enjoy that little one while she is still little.
Just imagine, in about 16 or so years, what this kid might say to her friends about these posts: "they used this old, slow, clunky type of internet-thing"; "they had these things called 'threads'"; "they thought they were strangers, even though they communicated every day."
Great news! Congratulations and welcome to Baby GR!
Felicitaciones!
congratulations!!! woo-hoo!! can't wait for the cross-continental playdates!

Whoa, get that woman a massage, Maxwell! (I'm not kidding -- it was by far the one thing that helped me feel normal again after my first child.) And warmest congratulations to you both. Now the fun part begins... :)
DITTO that Pixie's comment was brilliant.
For all we know, this newborn might be the one who discovers the new "internet".

Congratulations!
50 hours! It's a good thing that they say you forget about labor.
Of course, I have to ask, can we see pictures of Baby Girl Gillingham-Ryan?
Kaloo! Kalay! Happy! Happy Day!
love to all of you.
Blessings!!
Congratulations #121. Man, you guys are loved! Such a nice place to start baby girl out.
(And let's just all hope she isn't a natural born slob...)
Many blessings to your family! I'd love to see a picture of her nursery! :)
Here's my best parenting tip so far: if you want to sleep at night, keep the baby in the bed with you. You will feel so much better when you and the babe learn how to nurse lying down and you will get some real sleep after about a month. But, ultimately, do what your gut tells you to do. That's why we keep our baby in the bed even though we swore we wouldn't.
Good luck!!
50 hours? Oh my - my best wishes go out to the whole family. Good taste and good parents - you'd think she picked them out herself.
Can't wait to hear her new name!
Warmest congratulations!
welcome to the world little girl! we've all been waiting to hear all about you.
congratulations to the new parents. take care and enjoy your new family!
Add yet another "congrats" for all three of you!
Welcome to little Miss G-R! May you all be blessed with health and happiness in the days ahead. And long undisturbed naps :)
i think it bodes well for this community that this thread has officially (i think...) surpassed both the Kentucky Wildcat nursery battle and the McMansion Melee in terms of volume.
congratulations again, and may all three of you see many happy days ahead.
Congratulations to the three of you!
Little one, you sure are gonna enjoy your new digs!
i wish you and your family a lifetime of love and laughter!

I love how this beautiful event in Maxwell and SK's lives has inspired so many ATers to post on this thread. There are many AT names here I don't recognize, but it feels great to know that AT is such a large community, and we've all been waiting breathlessly for the arrival of little Baby G-R.
We're quite an international group!(from Bombay to Montreal to Switzerland and all the points in between). To all the above congratulations I add this heart-felt one from Thailand.
