I'm getting tons of it in my yahoo account, and even a few at work (which never gets spammed).
What's the story?

I read somewhere that it's some sort of virus. Apparently we're suppposed to "update our spam filters."

yes, our network guy sent us an email about this yesterday but i managed to delete it already. it's the newest form of the sober mass mailing worm.
"sober.q uses both german and english-language messages to direct recipients to Web sites with right-wing german nationalistic content, according to an advisory from e-mail security company mx logic. one of the urls points to the web site of the right-wing german npd party, it says." -pcworld.com
i did get a nice email telling me that "the whore was leaning toward german feelings". man did i want to click on that link.

Me, too! It's quite ungerade. (odd)
From what I remember of my high school German, it all seems to be tinged with some sort of racial paranoia. And there's no message body, only subject lines.
Would love to hear the story behind this if anyone has more information.

It still amazes me, that since I've been online in 1999, I never get spam. Famous last words maybe, but nevertheless, I've never had to deal with it. I never register for anything, and I do not allow cookies to be stored on my computer. I use Firefox and Thunderbird these days, too, which seem to work well.

I also ask my friends not to include my email address in group mailings........... (usually stupid joke and story pass-alongs, which I can easily live without).

I haven't been getting any spam, but I keep getting some sort of "multi-cultural = multi-criminel" link that other providers have bounced back to my domain name. I'm worried that people will start blocking my domain name as a spammer because someone with my name in their address book got a stupid email virus...

A really good site that I keep on top of my bookmark list is lifehacker.com written by Gena Trapani (part of the Gawker gang). Just about all the tools you need to keep your computer safe and up to speed. I don't keep that many bookmarks, but this one is a keeper.

Phew!
My so-called "computer technician" boyfriend has managed to avoid the wild German spam and has been accusing me this entire week that it is a mailing list I unwittingly signed up for.
However, Gmail's spam filter is taking it's sweet time fighting back.
