IKEAwatch: Dag, I Think Their Site's Changed

11-11-ikea.gifNot exactly big news, but it's late on Thursday night, so what are you going to do. It seems big to geeks like us. IKEA's website seems to have changed and gotten....better?! With a nicer user interface and with a lot more cute faces smiling about their orgasmic IKEA purchases, the Swedish giants seems to have learned a new trick. It even seems as if more of their store stock is for sale online. Anyone else agree?

(Hey how many hits a day do you think IKEA's website gets? If we all decided to buy a Billy Storage System at once, could we crash the system?)

anyone know when all the design 2006 stuff is showing up in the stores? the staff was hazy on this point...

They had a few things when I was at Paramus a couple weeks ago, but not the chairs I was looking for. They are rigid plastic with little lean-back bars on the back legs . . .

I guess I'm one of those geeks that was on Ikea last night. I did certainly notice the change- a good change. And yeah, a ton more stuff seems to be available online. Not that it matters much to me, though, aren't their shipping costs outrageous(?). I haven't seen those black plastic chairs guido's talking about- sorry. I can't decide whether I like them or not- I guess I'll have to wait and see'em at the store.

I was in the New Jersey store last weekend and they had odd bits of the designer collection in stock.

I thought the small stool wrapped in red fuzz was interested, but didn't think I could make a spot for it in my place.

They didn't have that lean-back chair when I was there.

Just tried the Ikea site . . . its very slow loading.

I cna't get it to allow me to complete the check-out process. I was trying to get through to see shipping charges and I keep getting error messages. Anyone else?

All of their new PS stuff looks pretty excellent, I must say. I'm going to hit up the new Stoughton, Mass store next week, we'll see how much of it is in stock. It's a brand new store, it's gotta be full, right?

I was elated to see the bookcase I've lusted for (NORREBEO) was now avaiable to order online. Hooray! That would save me a bus trip out to Elizabeth. But then I was horrified by the shipping charges. Even higher than the charge for delivery from the store, which is $100. And common sense just won't allow paying $100 to ship a $249 bookcase. Guess it'll have to wait till I've saved enough to order kitchen cabinets too.

I really like this ps jarbo corner seat for a tight space I have: http://makeashorterlink.com/?B2624172C

But I'm going to have to go and see if it is sturdy enough for real sitting. It is so cheap, I can't believe it would be.
