Meow. While our informal readers poll shows that there are more cat owners in NYC than dog owners (2 to 1!), we are getting many more submissions from dog owners than from the feline kind.

Whenever I have a party, I move Iggy's box to the tub. He doesn't mind, as long as I show him that I moved it first.
I bought a litter box at the Barking Zoo in Chelsea that I daresay is almost chic. It's oval-shaped ($40) and comes in variety of bright colors to complement any bathroom decor. It also takes up less space so it works well in NYC apts. They're usually on display in the store's window.
My friend Patrick used to keep his cats' litterbox under the kitchen sink and had cut an access hole in the door for the cats. He'd cut the door in the shape of an upright cat with its limbs spread, as though the cat had run through the door in a panic, a la Warner Bros. cartoons. Pretty hilarious.
We have 3 cats and spent $200 on the deluxe Mega LitterMaid box, with the electronic arm that sweeps away the litter 10 minutes after the cat has used it. Brilliant. Except my female is terrified of it and refuses to use it. So I still have an old fashioned box for her in my studio and I am once again "digging for gold" each day. Damn.
Unfortunately, the best place in my apartment for the "cat stuff" is out in the open. The litter box originally came with a top, but the cat didn't like using it when the top was on. [My cat is 15. When something doesn't work for him, I've learned not to argue.] I don't mind having it out, but I feel a little uncomfortable when I have visitors over and the cat starts doing his business... Any suggestions for camouflage that the cat might put up with?
I have been blessed with an extra closet and Sadie's litter box lives within. I cut a hole in the door so she can go in and leave as she pleases.
Under the kitchen sink with door propped open -
and newspaper on the floor outside of the cabinet - Montana (17) misses the mark sometimes.
Love the idea of the Warner Brothers cutout (and the door closed).
Maybe a swivel pet door for sink cabinet?
I too am blessed with an extra closet and Lucy and Coltrane love having their own private bathroom.
Where's the best place to keep your cat's DJ station?
