M. Diddy Knows Google

vanityfairmartha2.jpg
This is not exactly the Deep Throat exclusive but...the web is all aflutter this morning at the upcoming Vanity Fair cover story in which Martha tells all about being on the Inside and how the uber homemaker finds house arrest "hideous." What's she been up to in her spare time? Apparently Googling up ways to lose the security bracelet. C'mon, this is a woman who can make Christmas tree ornaments out of Campbells soup cans, did they really think they could keep her down?

M. Diddy forever! Naughty girls need love, too.

I think it's so strange that a woman who manages to breathe fresh life into the idea of hearth and home domesticity gets picked on by those bully boys who claim to be so conservative. Maybe it's because she has vision? And a spine? This is sounding a little too much like a post on savemartha.com

I'm just wondering what's pixeled-out at the bottom of the cover...

I fail to see how this is a conservative/liberal issue. Love of hearth and home does not reflect any one political ideology (this side of collectivism, anyway.)

Jon B -- It reads "The Big Post-Prison Interview."

Um, perhaps because the jailed Martha is fairly liberal and the boys at places like Tyco, who get off relatively scott-free for much more heinous misuse of power, are usually not so liberal?

Top 3 "Save/Free Martha"-themed t-shirts (according to me). 1) No Justice, No Quiche. 2) Martha is my Homegirl. 3) God Save the Queen (artwork is a riff on the Sex Pistols album cover).

Um, is there something I'm missing about the "M. Diddy" thing? Yes, I get the P. Diddy connection.. but is there something else about it that makes it work?

P. (the other) - Martha tells Vanity Fair that her nickname on the inside was M. Diddy. Not sure where that came from - maybe it just stuck because she's a player - like P. Diddy, yo.

I'm tired of Martha too. She is obviously intelligent and did manage to do some things in the world of design that were useful to some people. But enough of her already: her prison experience has probably been spun and is BORING me.

I still (hand-made-from-rose-hips, carefully-collected-from-heirloom-roses, then-woven into the shape of a) heart Martha.

But I suggest her moniker be changed to L'il Mo.

At the risk of, once again, sounding like Beaver Cleaver to P(too)'s Wally, and tempting him to say, "Gee, why do ya hafta copy me alla time? Scram, Beav!" I can't help but say, "Yeah! What HE said!"

The Rigases of Adelphia Communications were HUGE Republican donors and were sentenced to 15 to 20 years apiece. Sentencing an 80-year old man to 20 years in prison is clearly a much higher penalty than sentencing a 60-year old woman to five months at Camp Cupcake. There's no politically-motivated bias here.

I do, however, think one could effectively argue that the case against Martha was more gender-based. If there were unequal prosecution, I would be more inclined to agree that it was because she is a woman.

I heart Martha, too, but the retirement incomes of a lot of ordinary people were affected by all the recent instances of corporate misgovernance. The wrongdoers should all be prosecuted equally.

I don't think what Martha did is equatable to destroying the retirement funds of her employees. The only retirement fund she impacted was perhaps her broker's.

I think she's made more money for people than she's lost.

I'm sick of this "Camp Cupcake" crap. Yes, if one has to go to prison far better to be in a minimum-security Federal facility than a state prison or county jail, but prison is prison and the loss of personal liberty is no small thing.

Wish I could get some crabapple jelly, tho.

sorry to state the obvious, but since it turns out that prison, her gracious conduct in it, seems to have upped her rep and helped her empire (we'll see...) i've felt happy for her...now i hope she pursues her crush on John Stewart and gets him; they should at least date, become great friends whatever happens; think about it, M.S. power coupling with the star of the show from which huge chunks of the oft cited 20-45 or whatever demographic get more of their their news from than hard news sources (according to one story i read; how wacky, in irreverence we trust! woohoo; i just hope people don't hide out in pure comedy, or pretty things, like i do--that we try to do effective, league of pissed off voters type things as well...but anyway please excue the digresion).
ps
i salute u Martha, but must you brandish a pug...j'adore! but aren't their breathing difficulties kind of wrenching....
