Sliding in late today. We rarely blog after 5pm, (we once got into the habit of posting at midnight and got roundly criticized for it), but the day is NOT over until we have welcomed in the new week.
We are DEEP in the thick of Bathroom Month, and it is so refreshing to realize yet again how important, how fun and how creative this most diminutive of rooms can be. We're getting really great submissions from readers showing off their bathrooms, sharing resources and describing what they went through to make it all happen. If you've got a great bathroom to share, please send it in and we'll send you a thank you gift.
Meanwhile, inquiring minds have a new question this week (pic: DesignMilk):

I want to be one of those metal wash tubs that people used to fill with water from the kettle. Ah, a simpler time.
Hey Ben, the code changes by person... maybe it was trying to tell you something! ;)
Tia--
The only image that comes to mind of those metal tubs is the fairly/oddly frequent bath scene in cowboy movies. Granted, a FOND image for me growing up...
And my parents just thought I liked Westerns!
i recently spent 6 months in indonesia where i lived with a local family. our "bathroom" consisted of a tiled room with a whole in the ground (toilet), a faucet, and a small bucket. oh, and no toilet paper. yes, that's right folks.
i always think of those days when i read these bathroom month entries. how lucky and spoiled we are...
Where can I find one of those Dutch blue saucer tubs with the firewood heat exchanger? Perfect for the cabin...
I *was* going to extol the virtues of a Jacuzzi (brand spa tub) but now I feel guilty for just having a tub, after that!
Japanese soaking tub for me :)
BTW nice code for doing the poll "slutq" hehehe
I would be a carved single stone bathtub, warm and sensuous and nice to touch!
I had a jacuzzi tub in my first (520sf) studio condo. It was such a luxury and I still miss having one. It sure beats a bucket... says the spoiled, lucky guy.
One thing that I have learned in my house and will apply to future purchases is that a jacuzzi is only as good as the heating system behind it. You need 80 gallons of hot water in order to fill one of those tubs and no matter how hard you try, that 40 gallon HWR just wont cut it.
Dont really know how that applies here, I just wanted to impart that little bit of knowledge.

It's called the Dutch tub, shown at a (fairly?) recent ICFF and with more info abailable by clicking my name.
aVailable, that is
