Despite the high heat and the yummy prospect of spending the rest of her summer indoors in Bedford, NY (instead of getting up to her house on the Maine Coast), Martha got slapped with three weeks of extra confinement for violating her sentence the day after her 64th birthday.
Seems she slipped off to a yoga class and zoomed around her property on an all-terrain vehicle and then someone snitched on her.
Chicago Tribune - Martha's stay at home extended
We would bet our eye teeth that Martha's pissed off at The Post for publishing photos of her outside of her home, which is what drew the attention of authorities. Meanwhile, back in NYC the official word is, "We will be so happy to have Martha working without restriction at the end of the month."
Bet she sneaks out again. MGR

Setting aside any thoughts on should she or should she not be confined to home, does anyone else wonder what in the world an ankle bracelet is for if not to track where its wearer goes?
I don't understand why photos had to play a role in this story, at all.
i like martha, if she violated the rules of home confinement, then the extra time is justified.some home! however this is an example of the kind of journalism the new york post believes in.
they create news and report it, this applies to stories like martha's as well as politics and world events. i like page six and liz smith though.
I just can't help but wonder if her ex-husband must have been a fraternity brother to some huge Republican power broker who's helping him exact revenge or something.
Whatever one's opinion of Martha or her sentence, this latest development is simply about what this whole thing has ALWAYS been about, from the very beginning: why does Martha think she's exempt from the rules that govern the rest of us? I can't figure out how can she be so stupid and self-destrutive... again and again. I happen to like the aesthetic she represents, but deplore her attitude. And I hate that she keeps displaying that arrogance, again and again. What does she expect?
I am guessing there are liberal interpretation sin what could or couldn't be done as per the terms of her house arrest arrangement. Medical reasons were probably okay, so she figured "yoga, slightly medicinal = good thing". Driving a car off the property probably not allowed, so she figured "Golf cart on property = good thing." Not defending her (well, okay, a little) but I am sure there is more to the story than meets the Post.
And, please, people in prison who stab other inmates and shoot up in their cells still get parole. AT least the part of the sentence they extended was the house arrest. At least taxpayers are not paying for this part of her incarceration.
Leave Martha alone. It's her birthday (or was yesterday). Happy birthday, Martha! Look, you got an anklet!
Doug--
The ankle bracelet is in case she is ever lost or stolen, so the police can recover her before she is cut apart and sold for parts. Oh, wait, that's Lo-Jack. Never mind.
"why does Martha think she's exempt from the rules that govern the rest of us?"
Ditto
"...deplore her attitude. And I hate that she keeps displaying that arrogance, again and again..."
Ditto
"I happen to like the aesthetic she represents"
I think that's an insult to the word "aesthetic."
