Boy, it's been nearly two weeks since we last heard about Martha, so it had to be time she was in the news again. And, oh yes, is she.
While August is quiet and her ankle bracelet doesn't come off for a few more days (8.31 to be exact), forget fixing up her house, Martha was busy yesterday stirring up press for her TWO new shows. As reported in the NYTimes this morning, Martha had a news conference yesterday to promote both her new daily show, Martha, and the new edition of The Apprentice: Martha Stewart (you can watch video clips on both sites - what did she learn at Alderson? "Fortititude" and "how to bake creme caramel"... unreal).
While it's all well and good that she is being honest and talking about jail and her ankle bracelet, we just wonder how this next chapter of her life will come out. These shows are so contradictory to one another in the image that they present, tough bitch v. smart, funny homemaker, that it just seems like a disaster waiting to happen. But who knows? Shares of her company are up. Mark Burnett believes in her. Stranger things have happened. MGR

I think there's a tough bitch vs a smart, funny homemaker in every woman--and man, for that matter. I have no issue reconciling those at all. ;) Go, Martha, go.
That top picture of Martha looks SOOO much like Diane Sawyer that it's very, very strange.
Meanwhile, I think reality shows are pretty icky, but I'll have to watch hers. I just won't be able to help it. I think she's fantastic.
I love Martha. Any CEO that can bake a mean batch of cookies is ok with me. can't say that about The Donald or Oprah.
I am so sick of Martha. Yes, she's a guru at marketing and promoting herself but her hubris and ego leave me cold.
How do you know Oprah can't bake cookies? She can probably bake RINGS around Martha, and just doesn't brag about it!
:)
I also had to chime in:
Not critisizing the statement, but the whole idea. Yes, each show is presenting a different side (the tough bitch side/the funny homemaker). But why do they always have to be pulled apart? Would it be so terrible for the boss on an Apprentice-like show to also be funny? and well-mannered, yet also tough?
Ugh.
Next thing we'll have another gay-male makeover show. Because stereotypes on tv rock!!
Did she have a bunch of plastic surgery, or are those pics just fuzzy? I think the Donald got his wig powdered too.
The one on the cover of Martha Stewart Living makes her look like she's in her late-20's. I love her, but I'm not so sure that's a good thing.
