This has been around for a while, but it is worth checking out given the recent interest expressed in prefab houses. While the Muji House isn't exactly inspiration for the Fall Color Contest, it might inspire where the Fall Cure is concerned.

The house is made by Muji, the Japanese maker of "no brand" products for the home and office. The house manages to pack smart organization in Muji's "trademark" minimalist style into a small house that can be filled completely with Muji products. I love the kitchen storage wall and the covered outdoor space. Is anyone else in love with this house or is it too spare?

I really like the way things are organized. Everything seems to have a place. And the lines of the home are pleasing. However, I think that different colors and some live elements (plants?) would help this from seeming too spare.
Add some color and I would be fine. Experience has taught me that I find these very un-cluttered interiors very relaxing and peaceful.
I agree - I would need to some more colour to it, white is nice but NOT EVERYWHERE...
I've been a long time fan of the Muji lifestyle stores and always make special stops when I'm in Tokyo, Paris or London. I don't understand why they don't have a store in the US. A very few accessories and pieces of furniture are sold through the MOMA design store, but it's not enough for my Muji-fix! This home really is the epitome of asian-inspired minimalism. I agree with Jamjaree - it's a home of peace and calm.
i LOVE this house. yes, it's very white. but as a jumping off point (since it is pre-fab) it's damn near perfect. with a little color, plants, and personal items, this would be a winner.
I love this pre-fab! I'm drawn to its light, airy feeling and its understated simplicity. That long row of shelving on the 2nd floor and the open bedroom area are my favorite features. I could definitely live in a space like this.
When, oh when, will they open a Muji store stateside? And I mean more than the little mini-shop inside the MoMA gift shop...On my one and only trip to Japan, I was obsessed with Muji shops and went to many. Yes, you need to add color, but Muji is onto something.
Apparently, Muji is planning to open a store in New York, possibly in 2007: http://home.kyodo.co.jp/modules/fstStory/index.php?storyid=274237
Reminds me of a hospital...though if hospitals were this nice, I wouldn't mind staying in them!
