Baby Steps. If Racked claims they are late to the party, what does that say about us? Though it doesn't feature any product information yet, MUJI has launched an official U.S. website to accompany its two new stores slated to open in NYC before the end of the year. This could be also mean that MUJI is planning a full web retail business in the U.S possibly great news for everyone...

i just hope they don't have the shipping and handling fees ikea does - to alabama it is a flat $223. there's a store 2 hours from here. grr

Holy crap, I would be in heaven if Muji sold stuff on their website. They seem to do this in some countries (UK, Japan, Korea) but not others... but hey, I'm just glad they're launching a US store at all!

It will be celebration time if they decide to sell goods through their website!
I remember visiting one of their Tokyo stores in 1996 and falling in love with the combination of simple store fixtures (concrete, plain shelving) and understated goods.
I hope I can find my old Muji notebook from back then...

There's a fairly large Muji collection (mostly paper goods and a few housewares and some clothes) in the basement of the MoMA store in SoHo. I can't say that I'm particularly blown away by their offerings so far, but I do appreciate their overall unfussy, unadorned, practical and economical approach.
