The Telegraph shares the news that Sir Terence Conran is launching a new more affordable range of furniture and furnishings as part of a regular collection at The Conran Shop. Named Well Considered, the collection takes Conran's "plain, simple and useful approach" and is making Conran-quality goods at a lower price point.
The collection launches on August 18 at the Conran Shop stores and online (I have a call in to the New York store to know when to expect the collection in NYC!). It includes the industrial Cross Floor Lamp (£95) and Cheese Grater Light (£29) shown above.
UPDATE: The Well Considered collection will debut in the New York store on September 24!

That cheese grater light is terrible, and anyone could make one of those if they really desire kitchen objects to hang from their ceiling.

At one time Conrad shop was the only store of its kind, then DWR copied the formula to some degree.

I am excited because this is Conran, and worried because the grater light is awful.
Also has anyone else noticed that the Conran website is the worst? Sometimes when you surf around you see ghosts from websites past. . .

I kind of like the grater light *blush*

What happened to Habitat - that was Conran's whole store (as opposed to a few items) of semi-reasonable home goods - and it was in major cities in the U.S.?
I used to get great things there in the Bethesda, MD store.

I bet the grater light makes really pretty patterns on the walls.

The designs look very phoned-in. That armchair on the Telegraph website is about as mediocre as they come.

Cheese grader! Wait that's my idea...:)
I am going to make a cheese grader lamp out of flat cheese graders put together in an octagonal shape. But I didn't think of painting it a color. Love the orange!

From wikipedia: Founded in 1964 by Terence Conran, it (Habitat) is now part of the IKANO Group. The group is privately owned by Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, and the Kamprad family.

sorry i had to comment, I designed and made the cheese grater light in 1999 and then later added different colors by powdercoating. Conran have only ordered orange so far.
Yes there have been lots of cheese grater lights over the years but adding color makes it into a proper light (i think)
It's not one of my best designs (it was after thought at the time) - but I have developed it for the Conran into a great light! check www.jasontaylor.co.uk or www.tincanan.com for other designs. thanks.
