New Dwell DIY Magazine!
Make it Yours

dwell.jpg

With all the depressing magazine closure news of the past couple of years (House and Garden, Domino, Blueprint—just to name a favorite few), we were thrilled to learned that Dwell is branching out...

Make It Yours will be Dwell's first special interest publication. Drawing on the extensive Dwell image archives, the publication will analyze each image for take-away design ideas that emphasize sustainability and affordability. In addition, the magazine will serve as a shopping guide and will highlight the latest in design products. The newsstand-only publication will hit stores on September 23.

This seems like a model that has worked for the Better Homes and Gardens publications. (Every time we turn around there is a new Creative Home or DIY) We're definitely excited to see it given a Dwell spin. Is this something you'll buy, come September?

i'll look at it and then consider buying it, but my interest in dwell has significantly diminished over the past couple years. still, i'll probably renew my subscriptions yet again.

I agree with liam. My interest in dwell is starting to diminish, there magazines keep getting smaller and thinner. Never the less I probably will renew as well. But I hope that they are able to grab all attentions back before they lose us. So is this new magazine suppose to be like ReadyMade?

dulce: I was wondering the same thing. I already get ReadyMade...not sure if I want a similar magazine.

Dwell has become very narrow and redundant. let's hope this new publication isn't more of the same.

I agree with all of the above. Dwell has beat me into "green fatigue". I get it...the earth, resources, my role...enough already! Dwell has changed who they are, and in the process lost those of us just looking for great design.

I still love the magazine, but their reliability has gone way down for me. I regularly have to call about not receiving a magazine. I missed the May issue and when I realized and called, they were all out and said I had to buy a back issue. To add insult to injury, when I received my June issue, there is a full page ad in it for back issues.

…but i'm still interested in the new mag :P

I'd rather have H&G, Domino, Blueprint or Cottage Living resurrected.

Will definitely check out the first issue and see what I think. Thanks for the heads-up.
