NEWS: Gracious Home is Coming to Chelsea

0612_gracious_home.jpgMove over, Bed Bath and Beyond. Gracious Home is coming downtown. The home furnishings super store is opening up a new 24,000sf shop at 6th Avenue and 26th Street. But don't head over there for a while: doors aren't set to open until this October...

Right now, we just don't shop at Gracious Home that often because their locations aren't convenient to us. But given their new location in Chelsea Landmark, near our office, we're sure we'll find ourselves stopping in much more.

I work near there too. This is awesome, I just don't like going all the way uptown to browse.

The best customer service and NOT a big box store.. it's still a family run operation... The guy who owns it pays helth insurance and benefits to employees and treats them very well. So when you see the steep prices go ahead and pay, as it's all spread around!!!

I've mainly only gotten good service there, and for some things like cabinet pulls, etc., I've found their selection to be just amazing. That said, I tend to end up buying things that are pretty classic, so much of the "special order" stuff tends to be lost on me.

But seriously, the place is (for me) wonderful eye candy at the very least.

Impressive collection of items for the home - at a price. Some items definitely in my budget but some...really outrageous. I was looking at bathroom wastebaskets and found many in the $200 - $400 price range. Many of these could be easily duplicated by buying a basic waste basket with pleasing lines and then either painting, decoupaging or otherwise embellishing it. I did get some good ideas from looking at these pricey garbage pails. There are definitely items that I feel are worth their price and I spend the rest of the time gathering more ideas while internally laughing at some of the price tags.

Excellent service, very helpful staff, a mix of reasonable to outrageous prices and some good sales. I am glad they're now in Chelsea but I wonder, with the current economy how long they will remain there. I recently went from Gracious Home (virtually empty) to Bed, Bath and etc. which was packed. I know, different price points for different demographic but ...well, we'll see.

I would be very sorry to see them go as love not having to head uptown.
