I started out on the train and, in true travel mode, was in serious soak-it-up mode. From the team of soccor fans enjoying a 12-pack of beer at 10am to the mailman making deliveries on his pimped-out mail bicycle, to the infinitely excellent design solution for floor radiators....

In my short time in Denmark, I felt an imperative to travel up to the northeastern shore of this peninsula/archipelago of a country and visit the Louisiana Museum. It blends all the best that Denmark has to offer--a great landscape, an incredible melange of modern architecture, a serious art collection and great design accents at every turn...

I used to live in Humlebaek with a host family when I studied abroad in Copenhagen - what a trip down memory lane!
I can see the town hasn't changed too much - I parked my bike under the awning every day :)

I've been to Louisiana four or five times because it is one of the finest museums in the world in an exquisite location. (Plus my mother right across the bridge in Sweden). Thanks for the gorgeous photos.

Skittlbrau, did you study with DIS? Louisiana is so gorgeous. Jill, your trip is bringing back many fond memories for me.

I lived a bit north of Humlebaek, in Hornbaek, during one glorious summer of my life and your photos brought back lovely memories - thank you! Hope you enjoy an authentic "is flode" while you're there, or two or three!

Another thanks from someone who studied in Copenhagen (and at this time of year--love those typical grey skies). I also get up to the Louisiana Museum each time I visit. The grounds are gorgeous on a sunny day and the view from the cafe out to the sea...wonderful. But, I have to admit, one of my favorite parts of the trip is the ride up from Copenhagen. I've had fantasies of living on the Danish "gold coast" ever since....
Have you visited the Ordrupgaard collection? Really fantastic, lovely setting too. Plus, lots of Hammershoi paintings (I love those slightly out-of-focus 19th-century Danish painters) and Monet, etc. It's in Charlottenlund.
