apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

November is Entertaining Month!

11-13-dinnerparty.jpgWe're moving into the holidays. We're going to be posting on homes that are transformed for guests and how to make the most of what you've got when you ain't got alot of time, money or space. Which leads us to our Top Shops poll for 2006. This year we've got about 8 categories and we're going to poll our readers to find top picks in each one. Our ATNY top picks will get a super nice email from us telling them we think they're great.

We're also taking submissions for the next AT T-shirt.

11-6-tshirt.jpgHave an idea for a new AT T-shirt? Got a great line or a great design that you think would capture the hearts of AT readers? Yes? Then send us your design and we'll choose the best ones to put to a vote and see what the readers like best...

The winner will be printed up and sold in our store just in time for Christmas. In return, the winning designer will get a credit link in the store and a handful of free T-shirts to wear or give away.

Please send any submissions to Justine (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com with ATTSHIRT in the subject header. Thanks!

PS. 14 finalists !?! Yes, indeed, as our finalist rollout continues you will be seeing 2 extra finalists because the voting was intense and close and we wanted to err on the site of more in including all of those who were close to the cutoff.

Alas, "Let's break into people's houses and rearrange their furniture" would almost certainly bring on a law suit from whoever owns A Chorus Line.

*sigh*

How about the simple orange AT logo. No words. Just the squiggle. Small one in front or on sleeve. Big squiggle on back. Doesn't even have to be orange unless orange is the official AT color. Squiggle could come in all sorts of fab colors.

It'll be sort of a secret ID for ATers. To non-ATers it's just a design. To ATers who spot you wearing one, they'll feel they've bumped into a friend.

is this the place to send the design? this post? is it t-shirts only that you're wanting or other items as well?

MG, send any ideas you have to Justine at the email above.

I like the simple squiggle idea, Gekko! We'll put that in the hopper..

Bring em' on.

gekko - I love the 'just the squiggle' t-shirt idea. It could be like the interior design version of flashing a gang sign.

point of order for the steering committee: isn't this the sort of thing that people, you know, PAY for? i mean, i get the whole "we're one big happy family" thing but - as this site grows and becomes more of a business - do you think it's really right to not pay for work that will produce revenue for you?

I agree with the above post by "me". AT does a wonderful job of promoting the value of the design arts from surface design to interior design. However, this contest devalues graphic design. Would you run a contest where you get furniture designers to create a AT chair, sell the chair and give the designer nothing for the work? Is it right to make money off other people's skills and hard work without equitable compensation? You might just think it's a t-shirt. To me it's my life; it's my profession. I'm sure there's no malice intended with this contest but think it through.

I agree, your site obviously generates enough revenue to keep you alive, you should also be generous enough to pay for graphic design that you will be making a profit off of as well.
