Because we procrastinate and we put it off and it is so much fun when you get around to it, we've officially got one more week of Spring Cleaning Month before we hit Flower Box Month (a celebration of outdoor planting in the hardest of places, the city).
Speaking for ourselves, even though we have been on our hands and knees cleaning out the beach house our family rents to others in the summer, our city apartment stands still. But the clock is ticking and we will empty out our closets before week's end.
We challenge everyone to finish up this week and save your valuables for the Apartment Therapy Spring Yard Sale down here on Franklin Street. We're looking at dates right now, and it will either be June 11th or 18th. MGR

Well, I'm practically finished. I painted my biggest closet this weekend and re-worked all three, and I put a big old fluorescent light in one of them. Happy accident -- I was initially bummed when the cord wasn't long enough for the light to fit above the doorway on the inside of the closet. BUT... by put it NEXT to the doorway on one side, it ended up working out so that different parts of the light hit different shelves, instead of having the edge of the top shelf plunging everything below it into a dark shadow! Yea!
The smallest of the three closet fits all my hang-up clothes. The other small one with the light has all office supplies, art supplies and tools, etc. And the huge walk-in now holds my entire paint-by-number collection -- kits and paintings.
An actor friend/neighbor named Patrick (a different clever cuss from the one who freely contributes his wit and wisdom on these pages) whom I know through actual meat-space helped me do this in his usual semi-brutal fashion, for which I shall be forever grateful.
The only reason I am spring cleaning is because of this site. It was a luxury to have not only a long weekend (4 days for me), but to spend it at home and to have time to really dig into things, both cleaning/pruning and reorganizing. I made a list last night of everything I had done (from deep cleaning to switching seasonal clothes to donating a LOT of stuff--what a nice, spare closet) and was just amazed. Feels great. You guys are turning me into a nerd!
I finished spring cleaning about a month ago and this morning I pulled the all of the cars out of the garage and dropped them off at the detail shop.
Everything will shine!
I even wax and polished my appliances (I know I know...but to that i say insomnia effects us all in diffrent ways)
I know several people who "wax their appliances" when they can not sleep.
God, I love this site. I was feeling so bad for not starting my cleaning. Now I feel so much better!
I have a clear, looks like bubble wrap, shower curtain. What's the best way to clean it?
Help.
Thanks,
Barbara
