For Real? Pixie sent a link to Shelterrific which reports that yesterday included the announcement that two MUJI locations are planned for New York City (not MOMA) Though no details or links are given to support this information. (And we couldn't find any evidence on the MUJI corporate site.) Anyone know anything?

Pixie here, not at Shelterrific--I just submitted the link from that site.
So exciting - a real Muji store in the US.
I saw the same on psfk - see below. It's all so very exciting!
YAY
Yesterday I wore a dress I bought at Muji in London last fall and got many compliments.
I also brought back a furniture catalog that everyone in my office was salivating over.
Can't wait!
The Muji stores in London are great. They are far more comprehensive and inspiring then the shops within MOMA.
sweet! i *loved* shopping at muji when i lived in japan. the selection at moma is okay, but the full-blown store is so much better. hooray!
Congratulations. I saw the Bloomberg article also. You will love these stores. We have had them in the UK for around 15 years now and the quality is wonderful as are the prices. Great simple design.
I hope they don't wreck the prices here.
On a recent trip to Hong Kong, my best friend and I spent 3 hours snooping around Muji. The security guard must have thought we were crazy. I hope this rumour is the answer to our plea for a Muji in the States.
From the Bloomsberg article:
"After opening stores in Manhattan in the year's second half, shops in Los Angeles and San Francisco will follow in 2008, she said."
Woo-Hoo!!
Muji outside of Japan is so much more expensive than in Japan that it's cheaper for me to buy it from Japan and have it shipped to the states. Even the furniture is cheaper that way, and that includes the international shipping.
While I'm glad there will finally be a non-moma Muji in the states, I'm worried it's going to carry the same inflated prices relative to Japan.
