apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

September is Pet Design Month!

Oh yes it is. We've got only two weeks to go, blogging pet design for the home, and then we're into our 3rd Annual Fall Colors Contest (look out for our contest page launch next Monday, 9.22).

Did you know that the pet market is HUGE in terms of dollars spent, but that there is very little high, quality design in it? At our meetup last week, our speakers kept coming back to the fact that there is a growing demand for better and better pet products AND that folks are willing to spend more on quality and style, but only a few designers had stepped into the niche. This could be a great opportunity for all you budding designers out there...

for three K and the dog may not sleep on it at all !
I'm sure a much much much cheaper mattress can be had for the dog. How many poeople spend 3K for their own mattress---AT should do a survay on that subjest.

Expensive stuff and high quality design aren't exactly the same thing. I think that pampering oneself every once in a while is a good thing. And I think that if you have a pet, there are some things that one does splurge on to make things go well.

But, I really don't care how much money you have -- if you're paying $3K for your dog's bed, it's going to have to do a lot of things that this one doesn't look like it does. But I think that your life thus far must have been very cruel to you, to forsake mankind so completely that you have to squander that kind of money on things that your pet won't even be able to fully appreciate.
