Robert Norton, started Colorcalm just a few years ago with the idea of creating lively, artistic and beautiful programming for that often ugly piece of real estate that is known as the television. His first effort Colorcalm Skies came out over a year ago.
His newest DVD, by Design, is a much more interesting (and ambitious) project. It contains the work of three notable ambient designers (Peter Saville, John Maeda, Irma Bloom) who have created visuals for great music (New Order, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Michael Nyman). He asked us to review it, but the problem is, we don't have a big, flatscreen television and DVD player to watch it on. So we came up with the idea of asking six readers to review this new DVD and tell us what they think.

Dibs! I call Dibs! I love my Colorcalm DVD; and I've got a big-assed plasma screen in my living room... Pick me. (Oh, okay... I'll send an email too.)
(...and I'm a huge Peter Saville fan. I saved all of my New Order album and 12" single packaging from the '80s because they were so beautifully designed.)
I've also got a big assed plasma with a really nice sound system (mirage omnisats) that I can test it with.
Sent an e-mail - would love to review! I need some good ambient projections for the holidays. :)
I love the idea of this, but as long as my 1981 Zenith holds onto gasping life, and I can keep its filigreed proscenium in action, there will be no plasma for me.
I'd love to review this! I'm an animator, after all...
