Additionally, Apartment Therapy's better half (OHR) organized the above "Croquet at the Wickets" last weekend, which we thought you might enjoy seeing.

As well, Ruth passed along "The Crackers" this morning which shows you just how toxic both items are. Who says us New Yorkers don't have a sense of humor? (Thanks, OHR and Ruth!) MGR

How very Alice Through the Looking Glass of you!
Can I also just say I was surprised/slightly disappointed by the color of the Gates? I had been conjuring up all kinds of wonderful images based on early descriptors of "saffron colored cloth" but, um, these are orange. Construction barricade orange. Maybe part of the intent, to play off the color of construction in a city that never stops building, but it was, for me, and unpleasant surprise.
Still an amazing project though, and still remain a Christo fan. Has anyone snapped any pics from during/after the snowfall? Those images have to be awesome.
I, too, thought saffron was more yellow or gold, although I've been told that the plant is much, much darker than the color food picks up when you cook with it.
This brings to mind images of macaroni & cheese, construction cones, and Tibetan monk robes.
