At offline garden 05.JPGLiberty Sunset Garden Center is the product of Hungarian born owner Sandor Gubis's personal plant obsession. Sandor turned his own potted collection into a diverse and overflowing retail garden center in the spring of 2006. The center has an awe-inspiring river side view of the Statue of Liberty to go along with its great selection of plants, fertilizers, and custom wood planters (they'll build any planter to your specs upstairs in their wood shop.)

Stacey Maire, manager of Liberty Sunset Garden wowed the crowd at last Thursday's meetup with her vast knowledge of plants. There was no question she could not answer... shaded plants, hardy plants, bug-free plants, native plants, edible plants. You name it, she knew it. It felt good to be amidst so much good information.

Stacey tried her best to quell universal fears of gardening. "Just try!" was her mantra for the night. "It's ok," Stacey reassured, if a plant, on that rarest of occasions, happens to die. She suggested that such a minor setback be accepted as part of the road towards being a successful gardener--either indoors or out! Be brave and forge on. It's worth the effort!
