Believe it or not, Jed also flew in from Vermont for our meetup last week. Hepper, Jed's new company he named after a cat who is named after Audrey Hepburn is a rising star amongst sources of high-design for pets...

Jed explained to the crowd of pet lovers and designers that his aim in designing his line of pet furniture is to solve basic problems in the most elegant and simple method possible. So, for example, the wave bed above takes its lead from the hammock. The stretched fabric provides a comfortable bounce for a pet without any superfluous material and engineering.

Jed decided to start his own company and market it online from the comfort of his Burlington locale. So far, he's happy he did! We love the sleek style and pragmatism of his pieces and the great photos on his website!

not to say these aren't very stylish, but my cat is perfectly happy with his SuperScratcher. i just bought him a new one from target yesterday and he spent the entire evening laying on it. only $10!

My kitty would love this. I adopted him from the MSPCA. He had been there for a long time and led a hard life before coming there. He is thrilled with toys to play with as I don't think he ever had any. He would think this is a castle for a kitty. If I could afford one, it would be like a rag to riches story for my little guy. Plus it would look oh so fab in my living room.

I love the look of the Hepper pet beds, and I have no doubt that my Chihuahua would LOVE the Nest bed. I've been eyeing them for a while now, but I haven't bought one.

Why? Because they're not washable -- not even the pad that goes inside. The FAQ on the site indicates that they can be vacuumed or spot-cleaned with cold water only.

Now, I am a clean person. I have a clean house, and I keep my dogs clean. However, they are still dogs, and they do make messes and make things dirty. They don't use toilet paper. They shed. They puke. It happens. I wash their current bed inserts at least once every couple of weeks (more frequently is there's an "incident") -- in the washing machine. Dabbing at them with a cool sponge isn't going to cut it, especially over the long term.

I have no problem spending $100 on a well-designed bed for my dogs, but it has to last. I don't want to have to throw it away after 6 months because it's smelly and dirty.

Jed, I'm assuming you're reading these comments, so hopefully you'll take some of what I'm saying into consideration. You've got some great designs going, and a lot of it is going to be aesthetically appealing to pet owners with the cash to spend to buy them. The practicality of being able to machine-wash (or even fully hand-wash!) at least parts of the beds would make them MUCH more appealing to pet owners. I'm sure of this.

@Anna A D16: Jed here from Hepper. Thanks for the interest and the advice. Although we haven't posted the info on the site, the Pod, Podium and Nest bed all are able to be scrubbed out in the sink, and then air-dried. They are made of flexible foam inside the fabric so they bend and it's pretty easy to do. The fabric on the Wave bed can be completely removed from the frame and machine washed.

We have had the removable liners request before and you'll be happy to hear that we are adding a removable, reversible, washable liner very soon! (late October-ish). This will be in the Pod and Nest, so your Chihuahua will be able to have a Hepper bed for the holidays!

Please email us if you have any other suggestions/comments!
