Like a lot of new design, Sae Song's bag design came from frustration over the available options. While his presentation focused mainly on setting up his company, his bags offer a novel new variation that is somewhere between a backpack and a fanny pack...

- "STRAPP bags are uniquely designed shoulder bags meant to hold everyday items. They are great to wear on hot, humid days when one doesnt want to carry a cumbersome school bag and they also make great travel bags. Each of our STRAPP bags have nickel-plated hardware, customized lining, and YKK zippers."
I got all thrilled by this design until I saw the zippers. With all the excellent gear fastener designs, why something so fuddy-duddy, inconvenient, and prone to malfunction as zippers? You deftly swing the bag off your shoulder--then awkwardly dangle it or lie it flat somewhere to unzip and rezip a zipper?

I also was thrilled about this design and my first thought was how much because I need one. But the zipper thing: my concern is that if worn with the zippers out, its really an easy mark for pickpockets. And then, of course, if you could wear it with the zippers away from the public, they'd probably dig into your back and cause discomfort. If the zipper thing could be remedied, I'd buy..

I cannot imagine putting anything valuable in this thing (i.e., a wallet) as you would basically be asking for it to be stolen.

On the topic of bags, I've been trying to find a small shoulder bag to carry a book I'm reading, sketchbook, camera and possibly phone, wallet and keys. Something like a messenger bag but about .5x or .75x the size. Any idea what these bags are called?
I looked up the Indiana Jones bag on eBay and ended up searching for 'gas mask bags' as well. I'm weary of purchasing something so old school, if there was a contemporary version of it, I'd jump on it in a second.
Also found 'cafe bags', 'map case shoulder bags', and 'field bag / rucksack'. Any recommendations on any other terms I should search for?
