Without pruning, apple trees bear no fruit.
We really took that to heart over the past six months as we planned for this redesign. We wanted to prune, simplify and provide room for growth. In this, our 2nd redesign since 2004, we've made one BIG change: we've combined all of our home design sites into one site and given our other four categories, cooking, children, tech and green, their own homes with room to grow. Take a tour and check it all out. Some parts are still under construction, but there's a lot new to see.

Silly question -- have the feed URLs changed any? I used to scrape one feed for each of NY, LA, SF and Chi-town. Is there now a conglom-o feed for all the hubs?

Nice! Just so long as we're clear NYC is still the center of the universe. :)

subbes - there is a feed for each city:

and one conglom-o feed:

congratulations – i know how much work goes into something like this... and it looks great!!
one question: what was the thinking behind changing the names of all the other sites (and not leveraging the at brand)?

The new site looks good, but I can't see comments in my Mozilla Firefox browser (which I usually use), only in Internet Explorer.

The link to the "Shopping Guide" in the nav bar gives me SQL failure. (Windows Vista, Firefox.)

What happened to AT Green? (By the way, I like having one main feed!)

The shopping guide link only seems to be working from the main page. Regarding the shopping guide; How about an online bar for us ATers that are not near one of the home cities.

AmyE--
It is accessed at the bottom of the page but now called "re-nest."

Thank you thank you thank you for putting photos in the RSS feed. No more opening a browser just to see what I'm supposed to "Look!" at, or for Scavenger posts, or for "Where's this [rug, chair, table, wallpaper, sculpture, refrigerator, decal, curtain] from?" Feel free to put ads in the RSS feed if necessary; it's worth it (especially if you take the next step and make the feeds full-text)!

I'm sure there is a reason, but the new names for certain sections such as "re-nest", "unplugged" and "ohdeedoh" seem less intuitive as to their content.

I like the idea of one main feed and for the most part it looks pretty sleek. That way I dont have to continually go to other ATs. The only problem is distinguishing where the post is coming from. I did see at the bottom of the post it highlights which AT section its coming from like New York( blue) or Chicago (green). But if that is not made more prominent I can see people answering a question from Chicago with design sources in NY.
I agree with Jimkk that the new names for certain sections arent really intuitive. When reading them I was like WHAT?! is unplugged about AT Tech.
Also feel that the ads have too much prominence and its hard to tell where ad space ends and content begins.
Do love how you gave prominence to the House Tours on the side bar with pics.

Thanks Patrick (the other one)!
I do not like the new names! Jimkk is right, not intuitive at all.

is there a services section anymore? That's how I found my painters, my handyman, my bookshelves...
I don't see why the new layout is an improvement.
oh well.

i do not like the new names either. confusing. AT Nursery should just be that, not ohdeedoh, and so on AT green, AT....
