Though in good condition, the existing apartments are dull and boring. Cheap materials abound and the ceiling had been dropped four feet, cutting off the top of the windows. Rather than simply create a two bedroom apartment, Mr. Stolzman re-imagined the space with an open floor plan. He restored the original 12-foot ceilings and fully-exposed the windows. With the open floor plan, he created pockets of space and unique architectural details by designing a central gallery/hallway and elevating the living/bed room one foot. The small stairs (though 18-feet wide) add a much needed dramatic element to the space.

God, I wish those annoying silhouettes weren't junking up the renderings.

Oh Patrick...you know most people wouldn't be able to comprehend the scale of the place without them!

Trust me, transparent silhouettes look much better than photorealistic people in all but the best digital renderings.
