Elsewares: Home Accessories Local and New

391 Broadway, 3rd Floor
New York, NY

2004_9_24_champ.jpgThink global, act local. Ryan Deussing has been popping us with emails for a few weeks now, so it is time we paid attention. He started Elsewares only a few months ago with an eye to breaking up the monotony of current accessory offerings, and is doing a great job of getting the word out about with humor and originality.

2004_9_24_bowl.jpgRember Ad Hoc? Elsewares is stepping in where that great store left off, selling clothing, bags and home accessories by local and edgy new designers. Drawing from Brooklyn, London and points west, is more of a gallery representing new talent than a typical store.

2004_9_24_vase.jpgOf note is the champagne cork coat hanger/drawer pull for $22 (Florian Kremb), the new Kelvin Vase that changes color according to temperature for $89 (Jason Miller), and the Super Bowl made out of rubber bands for $48 (Elastico). This is gift fare so far, and we hope that the home category keeps growing. MGR

I just received a number of items from Elsewares that I ordered last week. Great site, with great designs that vary between the very expensive and the very reasonably priced. Their customer service was good (I had quite a few annoying questions about installing the mirror that I ended up purchasing). Well worth checking out.
