Want cork in your home? Yes? Then check out Jelinek Cork's group of websites, which each will tell you more about cork and its uses than you ever knew (and thanks to Holly for pointing it out).
Jelinek Cork is an old European company that has adapted over the years to serve industry needs and now also is "dedicated to protecting the eternal continuity of the cork oak tree" while celebrating its many uses, of which sound absorption, good acoustics and thermal insulation are some.
Of chief interest to us is their CorkStore.com, which offers cork products online at factory outlet prices. You can shop here for cork rolls & sheets, flooring, pads, furniture and other cork products.

We are renovating our kitchen and putting cork flooring down. I cook quite a lot and the ceramic tile is hell on my back. The cork give slightly and is also warmer on bare feet.
I've heard that the materials used to seal in cork flooring off-gasses something serious.
I grew up with cork tiles thru out the house - they were fabulous. My mom and I still miss them and both of us have plans to install the tiles in our respective homes soon.
Our tiles were unvarnished and finished with standard floor wax. They were softer and warmer than wood (a good thing on a cold January morning in Wisconsin) and very durable. In forty years my mom replace perhaps 6-8 tiles.
LOVE THE CORK. Excellent sales people there and really knowledgeable about their product. 5 Stars!
My kitchen flooring is cream-colored ceramic tile. It gets so dirty, so fast - shows every drop of dirt and is so hard to clean. And ugly!
I have been thinking about installing cork flooring for a while now. How easy is it to clean? Does it show a lot of dirt? Can you vacuum easily?
