This just in. Brett Grinkmeyer (yes, that is his real name) sent us a link to his site, where he designs and sells contemporary lamps which we find beautiful.
His is a small company, in that he sells three designs with more in the works. His specialty are mid-c modern style pillar lamps with solid wood bases (mahogany, lacewood, wenge...) and the shades are made of laminated paper which is interwoven or designed like a venetian shade (or a Noguchi shade).
His Bottle rocket ($320) is our favorite, and his La Tira ($250) and Light Tower ($230) come in a close second. He sells the shades alone along with replacement bulbs.
