It's terrific that you posted this; how heavy a curtain can these tracks handle? Can they hold up decorator fabric/with lining, or are they limited to something weighing no more than a shower curtain?
These are great because you can span a very wide window and still hold up heavy curtains because the track screws right into the ceiling. My only problem has been finding inexpensive, ready-made curtains with grommets or button holes to hook onto the track.

I have always understood that you can adapt simple curtains (rod pocket style) with curtain tape. Curtain tape is typically used to make even pleats in curtain - and there are a wide number of styles. The tape also has pockets for curtain hooks, which I believe will work for the carrier rollers. This does require basic sewing capabilities, but should not be too difficult.

How does one define "easily mounted"? I was definitely considering using hospital track to curtain off sliding doors to my terrace; with the side windows too, I think the overall length is 12-15 feet.
Given the amount of track I need and the fact that I have concrete ceilings, is this something I can install myself? Or will I end up with stiff arms, pieces of concrete in my eyes and curtains that fall down every time I give them a strong tug? .

A grommet punch kit is really not an expensive item, and a lot more hardware and craft stores have them than you would imagine, and you can probably find them online.
I also know they make more than one size, although I don't think you can find those really huge fun ones anywhere but on factory-made curtains.
I have been looking at Curtain Fairs website for a while. I think they have the best options, and their pricing isn't bad. Has any body else used them?

For those of you who live in NY, you can find ceiling track at Gracious Home on 3rd Avenue. They have two styles and will cut it to your length.
harry zaran also carries this. i also have a 15' wide space. i used two pieces of 7.5'-ish track mounted very closely together and haven't had a problem, although i tend to not pull the curtains across the gap too often. i'm using curtain hooks poked through the back of my tab-backed curtains (the ones that only have tabs in the back, not all the way up) so it's a very clean line at the top. ikea has long (108") cheap linen panels with the tabs in back and they worked out great with the curtain hooks. good luck.

We have been looking for these and nobody seems to have them. These are soo common in Australia and I thought they would have them here at Home Depot.

I bought my ceiling track from Curtain Fair and had a fine experience. The main guy is quirky but knows of what he speaks.
You don't need to sew to get curtains onto these tracks... use u-shaped drapery pins.
I have a white L shaped track I bought from Curtain Fair still in the box (40"x60") that I'd gladly sell to someone. I bought it to separate my son's crib from the rest of our bedroom, but we're moving instead. I also bought a curtain from them, also still in the box. I'll take the best offer.
