Seems like a great idea. But is just me or does that seem quite expensive for a product made of MDF? I would like to see a similar concept but made of solid wood.

Right Trumystique especially when you can almost create the same look from Ikea.

In looking at their site, I'd say that the big difference is that this stuff assembles tool-free and is supposed to be stronger than solid wood.

I looked at their site too, S_Walker79. Definitely appreciate the possibility for the tool free assembly but melamine coated MDF seems somehow cheap. Fine if I pay low prices I can get something thats melamine coated MDF at Target or Ikea but have to deal with the hassle of assembly. And if it is really stronger than solid wood I would love to see a comparison in terms of how many pounds per square inch SmartFurniture can support compared to common woods of the same width and length.

Good thing it's stronger than wood! I'm looking for something for my cannonball collection.

I have this in my home. The customer service people created a custom design for my wall to wall bookcases. They send you a 3D picture of your home with the Smart Furniture in it. It is neat stuff.

I was looking on their site and saw what they call Smart Cubes ( http://www.smartfurniture.com/smartcubes) that looked like the cubitec stuff at Design within Reach. Has anybody every bought the Smart Cubes from Smart Furniture? Do you know if they are the same as Cubitec?

Hey Johnny, do these things have nicer finishes than IKEA melamine coated designs?

I'd love to see a picture. If you can send one to AT have them post it with this listing I think everyone would appreciate it!

Those Smart Cubes remind me of the milk crates I used to zip-tie together in my dorm room. Unfortunately they're not much better looking...

The Smart Furniture system looks great (and I love the online design tool), but definitely pricey - and that's before shipping. Anyone know of something like this in NYC?
