"Until I slept on my Tempur-Pedic mattress, I did not really know or experience what deep-sleep is and what a difference it can make in someone's life...."

What? Is this first quote for real? Or is this from a brochure?

I also am looking for better sleep...but I think my lack of it comes more from my cat doing his Joey Lawrence impression ('Woah') at 4 in the morning and the tap-dancing Chinese family that lives above me (they have many talents - yelling in Chinese is another).

Maybe to go along with the mattress ratings, we could also rate accessories, like earplugs. I have the world's most comfortable mattress. I did not enjoy it until I had quiet in my apartment. I lived in a top floor brownstone apartment on 119th and Lenox, in the 'hot' section of Harlem. Come to find out I lived on THE party block. Sometimes parties would go until 4 a.m. Ear plugs became my biggest friend. As did noise-blocking CD's. I felt silly employing their use, until they actually WORKED. Now I have no shame going to sleep with 'Hear-Os' in my ear...

i purchased 2 "memory foam" pillows from overstock.com...just like tempur-pedic...at something like $30 each. plus a featherbed from century 21, = sound sleep...so comfortable!

I bought a pillow-top mattress, which was really comfy by itself. But then I bought a memory foam mattress topper at Costco (2" thick, $110) and now my bed is like 3 feet high and the most comfortable thing imaginable.

Tempur-pedic also makes the best eye mask ever - complete darkness, and it doesn't press on your eyeballs. My neighbors have a motion detecting exterior light that is set off by every cat that walks by that is as bright as prison floodlights and shines through my blinds. With the mask? Nothing but serene darkness.

A few weeks ago, my back abruptly begin rejecting my mattress. After much mattress testing, I purchased a Tempur-pedic mattress, which I received 1 week ago and I fully agree with that quote.

I am interested to know if anyone has any experience with the sonno mattresses at Design Within Reach. They seem to be very comfortable and I am in need of a new mattress.

I bought a memory foam mattress from the home shopping channel (impressed by the dry-cleanable removable damask cover)it arrived by UPS in a box 18" x 18" x 6'.. amazingly, i could sleep on it that night, and i have never had a better night's sleep.. (it bends easily.. nice for a walk-up apt... regains shape quickly) the best 800 bucks i have ever spent

I totally agree with what you're saying. I wish more people felt this way and took the time to express themselves.
Keep up the great work.

I got a topper from Costco and had to return it. It was vacuum packed. The instructions said it would take a few days to open to it's original shape, but after almost two weeks it was still not back to normal. I ended up buying a 10" matress from www.RestOnClouds.com and LOVE it. It has helped my back pain so much. They have toppers too, but I decided it was time for a new mattress anyway. Long story short, memory foam is the way to go!

I got a mattress from RestOnClouds.com as well. I LOVE it. I went with the 12" Cirrus. It's SOOOO soft and comfy! I've had it for about 2 months and couldn't be happier.

I love Apartment therapy! have you guys see the floating bed? How cool! Anyway, I second that Rest On Clouds thing. I got their 12" mattress a few months ago and I can't image not having it! It's so much like the Tempurpedic pillowtop, but so much less money- I'd totally recommend them to anyone.
